> 3 dayVery good projector if you dont have a lot of room to work with! The picture quality is great! The speaker sounds like regular TV speakers so if youre used to that you wont mind. Does blow out some heat but the fan works well to keep it cool.

IRON GIGANTIS
Greater than one weekViewsonic 1080p px706HD connected to a wifi roku ultra projected to one of those 120 screens outdoor/indoor screens (Abdtech Portable Outdoor Movie Screen, 120 inch ) from about 7 feet away (projector has a .69 throw) and my eyes not too picky so looked good during the day with most of the shutters shut but excellent brightness came out at night without indirect lighting coming in. The speakers where OK and lack some bass but using like a JBL flip 4 attached by audio wire was great improvement. Really liked this .. One day will save up for Epson LS500 but for now ..next to watch: Godzilla vs King Kong..

> 3 dayI purchased a ViewSonic PX701-4k projector from Amazon last week, it was shipped by Provantage LLC and received by me two days ago. I purchased this projector when my Samsung 3DTV died, so I could continued to watch my large library of classic 3D movies on 3D bluray disks. 3DTV sets are no longer made and the only reason why I purchased this projector was to watch my 3D bluray disks. I believed this projector was 3D capable, because in the question and answer section on Amazon, a customer asked if this projector was able to display 3D and the answer from Viewsonic was that it could show 3D. Also, a number of other customers on Amazon who were verified customers also stated that they have this projector and have used it to show 3D bluray disks. When I received the projector it worked normally in 2D mode except that it had no sound. I went to the 3D menu on the projector and enabled 3D, however, when I put A 3D disk in my Samsung 3D bluray player, I got a message saying a 3D display device is not present. 2D bluray disks in this player play normally in 2D through the PX701 projector except for the lack of sound from the audio out jack on the back. I dont know if this projector has internal speakers, but if it does, then they dont work. I have had no other problem with the PX701 projector other than the fact that I cant get the internal speakers or audio output jack to work. The specifications for the projector I found on one web site do say it has internal speakers. I contacted the seller Provantage LLC and they said I would have to contact ViewSonic directly, which I have done, but I havent heard back from them yet. I have seen reference to a firmware uprgade on youtube which said the firmware has to be upgraded to use the projector in 3D mode, but there is no such firmware upgrade on the ViewSonic web site. If this is a case of a firmware update, then Im willing to do that. I dont want to return this projector, because I have no other complaints about it, so I hope Viewsonic will come through with some solution to the problems. I will update this review as I go through the process of trying to get the problem resolved. THIS IS AN UPDATE ADDED ON NOVEMBER 5, 2022. When I contacted Provantage LLC and told them about the problem I was having, they told me there was nothing they could do and I would have to contact Viewsonic directly. I did contact ViewSonic on October 16, 2022 and they opened ticket number 248423 on my complaint. I worked with ViewSonic representatives Juan and Jerry for ten days and tried everything they suggested with no success. We went through all the menus on the projector looking for some setting that would turn off the 3D and sound and found no settings that would account for the problems. I replaced the HDMI cable with a new one that meets the latest specifications, and I tested both my 3D Blu-ray player and home theater sound system with different equipment and there was no problem with either one. I should also point out that the PX-701 projector worked fine as a 2D projector when connected to my Blu-ray player and I played a 2D disk (except there was no sound). On October 27, I contacted Provantage LLC and told them that I worked with ViewSonic for ten days, Juan at ViewSonic insisted that the PX-701 is capable of 3D projection with the version of firmware my projector came with. After working on both problems for ten days, Jerry, at ViewSonic Technical support, concluded that my projector is defective and should be returned. That same day I contacted Provantage LLC and told them ViewSonic recommended that I return the projector. Provantage LLC immediately emailed me a FedEx shipping label and a return authorization number. I returned the projector to Provantage LLC on October 29, 2022. That was a week ago and Im waiting to hear what Provantage LLC is going to do. Ill update this review again when I find out how and when this issue will be resolved.

> 3 dayFor the price this is a fantastic unit, it does have some light whine from the color wheel, but is otherwise superb. When calibrated, colors are good, sharpness is excellent and the response time is truly stunning from a projector. Having owned a number of high end projectors over the years, we are truly amazed that a sub $1k unit can pack so much punch!

> 3 day[Note, as I write this the unit is marked down to $646 brand new. At that price its worth a gamble as my unit had small defects which may have affected the entire output.] This projector is an example of the cart before the horse. Excellent 4K clarity, brightness, remote, menu response time, plus 3D. However the ground base of any unit is the brightness (ie white) uniformity, which this model has no better of than my old $400 projector which has been serviced multiple times. Projectorcentral reports its uniformity as 60% -- a poor mark, but Im not confident my unit even reached that. The far left side was always brighter than the remainder of the picture, and in mainly white or light scenes such as snow, sky, or sand there was a visible scoop of bright bias. Next, and at least as problematic, was the focus-zoom rings equation. The zoom ring was very stiff and jumpy, making it impossible to mask the pixel grid (screen door effect) as normally with a DLP projector you focus and zoom to maximum sharpness so that text aliases, then delicately dial down the zoom so that text is naturally rounded, thus reducing the pixel grid to a tolerable visibility of ~9 distance (which isnt affected by the size of the screen projected). However the focus and zoom were so fiddly on this model that they constantly borked the convergence and uniformity further, focus messing up the left side of the image, and focus the right, that I had to leave it at maximum sharpness, meaning a constantly visible screen door effect on any light surface. Crap. Then there were the menu lockouts. Color tweaking possibilities for this model are more than adequate when available. For whatever reason, more often than not they would be locked out, so, eg, Id play a film and the Movie color mode Id had it on previously would now be locked in place, so not only could I not tweak it, I couldnt select another mode or temperature profile. Sharpness seems only to be available for native 4K content too. Lastly, a couple glitches. My USB port would not power anything. I just turned it off via the menu before it created additional problems. The Blank feature would instead turn the projector instantly off -- which is not merely irritating but potentially destructive as projectors are built to run the fans for 30 seconds to a minute while powering down in order to expel pent up heat. Bonus info: I couldnt hear the 4K shift, which is to the good, as thats a common complaint. High altitude mode, if youre in the mountains or just somewhere very hot, is quite loud as is pretty much always the case with these small projectors, so youll need a hushbox if youre running it.

Greater than one weekI decided long ago that the cost of a TV out paced the technology. For that reason I only use projectors in my media room. This particular projector is a replacement for an older viewsonic I had for over 8 years. With that kind of lifespan ill keep buying them over a TV every day that ends in day!
