Yes, per specs there are faster drives but they will generate more heat, maybe need a heat sink and cost more. Most importantly you will not see any difference in using and paying for the faster/newer drives and this will be more than sufficient for 99% of the peopled out there. In my opinion this strikes the perfect balance for performance vs. cost so a great value. Get at least the 1TB is you are a gamer, 2TB if you can afford it.

I purchased and installed 2 of these 1TB WD_Black NVME m.2 gen 4 drives in my new PC build. They both function flawlessly, very fast (first time having NVME, gen 4 or otherwise - old PC was running 2.5 SATA SSDs. This is way faster than SATA SSDs! Very happy with performance - and love the small space taken up on the motherboard for each.

Recently built my new PC and found this to be a great price on an M.2 drive. Wanted to increase my boot speed and also have plenty of storage for my game library. This drive has worked great for me! Absolutely would buy again!

This drive appears great based on the stats and the reputation of the manufacturer but turned out to be a dud. Honestly, Ive never had an issue with Western Digital before so this was kind of a shock.

This is a fine product from Western digital... Im not using it for gaming and such, just the OS and some graphic post-production software and it keeps up with that perfectly fine.
