Greater than one weekAn excellent oil-like painting system with water clean-up. These paints behave more like traditional oil paints than acrylics, which I must mention for comparisons sake because both are soluable with water. I wouldnt identify the Artisan paints with acrylics on any basis except for the water thinning capability and clean-up. I simply did not like buying gallons of mineral spirits and even tried the odorless mineral spirits, but it reminds me too much of painting I used to do with lacquer as a young person and the thinner is a petroleum-based commodity that I would rather leave outside of my life as much as possible. While Artisan Water Mixable Oils are not quite as buttery as true oil paints, they are extremely close to the real oil paint look and feel. If you want to get rid of mineral spirits and work with water, then here is the way. The trade-off in true oil feel is barely noticeable and I would say, since you are changing, forget it and just concentrate on the new medium you are using. Drying time is 70% or even higher compared to that of real oil paints, so not much difference there. The Artisan oil pains still stay wet through hours of working time with some hardening the next day, which is not a problem for me. I could go into hours of raving about how nice it is to use water for a solvent and for cleaning, but briefly: I take my palette outside and hose it off with the garden hose and scrub it down with a soapy dish scrubber. Brushes get excellent cleaning in the kitchen sink with a bar of hand soap to make sure all is sparkling clean. I cant over-emphasize how nice it is to use water for clean-up. For finer behavior modification of the Artisan paints, there is a water-soluable anything you want, safflower oil, mixers, thinners and I recommend you get them all and play with them to your hearts content. Im a true convert to this painting system by Windsor Newton because they live up to the Windsor & Newton name - and that means a lot!

> 3 dayThe product was offered in 2 sizes and the ml was stated, having never purchased the tiny size I had expected more, I will probably never order oils online again - too expensive for what I received, my fault, lesson learned

> 3 dayThese are reasonably priced paints of good quality. They are oily which I assume is not the best for all artists but for beginners they work well enough. I like them. I understand expert artist prefer a dryer oil paint but I cant say whether dryer is better or not. Pigments seem of good quality as well. Ive heard that these paints are great paints for beginners and recommended for students because of the price. Oh, and they do wash up well. I use Dove bar soap that cleans the brushes great. I also use baby oil to clean and protect my brushes. I never would have thought of baby oil but picked that idea up from MazArtStudio.com on YouTube :).

14-06-2025Very similar to standard oil paint with a quicker drying time, even when you mix with linseed oil. Great for when you dont want to use turpentine.
