> 24 hourDid not work well for my FT-1D. Didnt seem to have the amperage to operate the radio but for a short period of time. Batteries were a little hard to get in and out of pack.

> 24 hourThis works, but shouldnt be your primary method. In this mode, you will be transmitting at 1 watt max with the VX-8R. That should reach your local repeater, but you may be scratchy into it. Its primary use should be sitting in your ARES Go-Kit for a just in case scenario.

> 24 hourTypical Yaesu quality. As another reviewer mentioned, it does appear to be at least water resistant, so you dont lost that feature of the radio just because you ran out of Lithium battery packs. Itd be a sad state of affairs to be transmitting at a whopping 0.8 watts (as is the case of the FT1XD when running on this battery pack) but for monitoring, short range simplex, or strong repeater work, itd most definitely do the job when your 2200mAh packs run out. I almost didnt get one for this radio (the FT1XD wasnt cheap, nor were the plethora of other accessories I had already added to it) but being the only radio without a AA pack, it was nagging at me. Better to have and not need...

> 24 hourA nice addition to the YAESU FT1DR. Allows you to use AA batteries to power your radio when you cant charge your battery pack. Perfect for those on the go....

> 24 hourIts nice and does what I need it to do. If my lithium batteries fail or Im in a remote place (camping, etc.) I can use 3 - AA batteries to power my radio. The battery life isnt great of course but its really about an alternative power source. My main issue is that its overpriced. I can get an aftermarket lithium replacement for less than the price of this case that has no batteries. Yes I knew this before I purchased it but I point it out for others looking at it and considering their options. I ONLY purchased this for the alternative power source option. If I had to do it again I think I would simply just buy another aftermarket battery only based upon price. If this was half the price I think the value would be there. Anyway food for thought.

> 24 hourIf you need a hand held transceiver that can run a long time on battery, the Yaesu FT5D aint it. Great radio, but it flattens rechargeable batteries quickly. Thats why I bought the battery case. If power isnt available to recharge the rechargeable battery, AA batteries are easy to find. Should be in your go kit if you intend to deploy during emergency situations.
