Zoo Med Wood Tortoise House

Easy to assemble and a nice product. My Greek tortoise appears to like it. Plenty of room and a dark hidey place. Perfect!

The product arrived Amazon quick and the box was in great condition. The installation instructions were straightforward and easy to follow. I was able to assemble the whole thing solo in about 20 minutes with a power screwdriver (highly advisable). My only complain was one of the panels had a defect in construction so I guess quality control is a bit of an issue. It did not affect the installation or functionality of the house so I just let it be. The house is not small so make sure you take your measurements before you get it. I highly recommend this box to anyone who wants to give their tortoise a house they can be safe and helathy in so they can thrive and grow.

Good overall design. It would be nice if the company would provide a plastic soft tray or treat the wood so that moisture wouldn’t be an issue. I’m housing a Russian tortoise so the moisture thing isn’t an issue. However, if I wanted to keep hatchling/juvenile Redfoot tortoises or box turtles, humidity needs would be higher and a tray or sealant would be required

Morris, my daughters tortoise, is loving his new house. It was easy to put together and gave him a LOT more room than his aquarium. He loves the private box for sleeping. This has been the best purchase we have made for a pet in quite some time.

The design of this product is poor. It does not provide wire mesh on the sides so animals can see out. Even better would be rigid clear plastic sides. Our bearded dragons freaked out when we put them into it. The wood of the tortoise house is so thin and flimsy it might as well be made out of balsa. One corner broke within a week with only moderate handling. I managed to nail the corner back so it is holding up, but I do not see us getting much use out or the product. We would return it if we still had the box. Do not buy this product. You will not be satisfied with it.

I now have two attached to make one 6 tortoise table. One alone is really too small for any adult tortoise, even the smaller variety. Its very easy to put together and looks good. Overall I am very happy with them.

I never do reviews on Amazon but I must say this was by far a huge investment for our Greek tortoise. My son originally got sold (at Petco) a glass tank and she kept knocking on the glass every night. I bought her a planter thing and it didn’t retain much heat. I finally bought what I thought looked like a wooden coffin and she LOVES IT! She’s so active and has grown so much.
