11-06-2025This product served me well for hobbyist knife making. They came straight and it was completely rust free. Each bar was individually wrapped which was a plus since I only make a knife every few weeks. I can confirm that they hardened well since I could drill through them easily when raw, but it ate through a couple drill bits on one knife when I forgot to drill holes before heat treating.

> 3 daySo yeah, steel arrived in good packaging, nicely oiled so zero corrosion. It was also perfectly flat, unlike the last 1095 i bought from a different supplier. I traced out a pattern went to rough cut the excess steel and watched as annihilated the diamond edge on an expensive Diablo Metal cut-off wheel i love using. I grabbed a good Nicholson metal file and it skated right off the steel. I just started making knives and while my little diy forge is great for heating a knife to non-magnetic for hardening, i just dont have the ability to heat it for the duration and temp level in order to do a proper anneal. I guess its time to step up and make an annealing box or maybe even build an oven of sorts.

Why Choose 1095?
The 1095 steel flat stock is the most common and one of the most widely used high carbon steel on the market. For knives, 1095 Steel is a very "standard" steel with good performance and low cost, with appropriate toughness and sharpness, better in every way than 1084 steel for knife making. 1095 steel flat stock is an awesome knife making supplies.
Anti-rust Packaging:
- We apply anti-rust oil on the steel plate to prevent the 1095 steel flat stock plate from rusting.
- We use anti-rust paper to seal the 1095 steel bar stock plate to isolate the knife steel plate from contacting with outside air or water.
- Finally, we put the knife making steel plate into the bubble bag to isolate the air and water again, and prevent the sharp four corners from damaging other products delivered together.
Maintenance Points:
- Remember to wash it, wipe it clean, and dry it after your knife steel contacts with water, blood and other liquids or in a humid environment, make sure its dry and there is no moisture on the blade.
- Remember to apply knife oil when the knife is not used for a long time.
