I primarily bought these for my camera equipment. I typically carry my photo gear in a backpack camera bag with a couple spare lenses etc. I hike a lot in the White Mountains of New England so I face humidity in the summer and cold temps. in the winter. One thing you dont want is moisture in your bag and camera equipment. I toss a few of these in the bag and problem solved. These will work for most situations where you need to reduce/eliminate moisture.

Some people day not food safe etc, you need to watch which version your buying, the white bead paper packs with blue writing say food safe on the bag as well as described above, they have multiple products and some arent food desiccant, theyd be used for ammo, jewelry etc and but they also have the food safe type, just read what your ordering and you should avoid this problem. The bag even recommends using the food safe packages for multiple foods, they can also be used in alot of non food items as well. I think some people are ordering the wrong packets that arent meant for food on accident or something because everywhere iv checked its food safe and quality checked. I use it in Mason jars to keep spices and dried foods nice and crisp. Recommended

Well, first time I’ve seen these in paper rather than that sort of fabric type bag. I’m not confident these absorb as well as the others. I tried testing on the faucet and water sort of rolled off that. I would think it shouldn’t roll off and instead absorb.

Just over a year ago I purchased these Silica Packs to help protect my stored ammo. If the silica inside these pack stayed clear then my ammo should be moisture free. That is unless these packs didn’t work as advertised in which case seeing clear silica would indicate a “False Positive” for the presence of moisture. Quite by accident I learned these packs actually DO work as advertised and they are VERY effective in the indication and absorption of moisture. Please see Photo One followed by Photo Two for details.

My husband works in a factory and his feet sweat because of his steel toed boots, so his shoes are stinky and wet by the end of the day. He throws maybe half a dozen of the packets in his shoes every night and voila! No smell come morning

Seems to work well. I have used these for zip up containers for my fuzzy cozy winter clothing. So far do good. Also packages are very strong, so we had been buy large containers of praline pecans the humidity was making them stale before we could eat all of them so I got the bright idea to put a packet in the pecans and the stayed fresh through the last one eaten. Now I need more of the pralines!

Whenever I buy Silica packets, I always weigh them. This is (to my knowledge) the best way to insure that they are fresh. Silica gains weight as it absorbs moisture, until it reaches its saturation point at 120% of its original weight. So, 5 grams of silica gel should weigh 5 grams when it is fresh, 5.5 grams when it is half-saturated, and 6 grams when it is completely saturated (and no longer functional as a moisture absorber). These packets weighed in at between 5.4-5.6 grams. Factoring in the weight of the wrapper (.4 g), I conclude that they average 90% effectiveness out of the package (+/- 10%). Thats good enough for me, and way better than the useless packets that you can get from unscrupulous or ignorant retailers. Shop with confidence.

Works well so far, would recommend for people looking to have a low level of humidity in air tight containers. I have multiple dry boxes I use to store 3d printing filaments to protect from the high humidity in my location. Been using cheap silica gel packets from AliExpress for awhile and had difficulty getting humidity below 30% and thought it was due to the containers I was using. Tossed in a few of the packs from dry and dry, within an hour it dropped to 25% and continued to 18% over night. Hopefully, I will return to this review to update how well the process of reactivating their silica gel goes, but at the moment I am highly pleased with their quality.
