Did exactly as it said: reads Wii games only, which is exactly what I needed it for. I can finally play modded Brawl and Mario Kart Wii again.

Easy to replace via online instructions... wii is working again

Replaced the Wii drive that was not loading the disc and making grinding noises. This one so far is working great. Kids are playing the games we have had for years. The install was easy by just watching a video on YouTube. Easy and straight forward took about 30mins.

Installed and working within 15 minutes. The disc drive in my wii was not reading the discs anymore, swapped it for this one from Amazon, and my son was playing games immediately. Received it very fast too!

I am a happy camper! Because I refuse to go back to the gym during these times, I dusted off my Wii but my game discs kept ejecting from my 11 year old console. Disheartened, I researched and decided to take a chance and ordered the replacement drive. A friend installed and it worked! Now I can do Zumba, play volleyball and tennis in my family room! Yea!

This item arrived as used. Multiple dents in the housing of the drive. A poor effort was made to conceal all of the scratches with a silver marker. Looks like it was removed from and old console with a poor attempt at reconditioning.

Followed a YouTube tutorial to install (a must for this task I believe) and used the cheap special screwdrivers I bought for the job and the Wii is working like new again. Pretty easy job, cheap fix. This drive looks and feels exactly like the original. And just swapping the drive out kept all the game memory intact with no fuss. Definitely a better option than paying a lot more for a refurbished unit of unknown history.

I got this today and had it installed in my sons Wii in about 30 min give or take. The wii was giving a cant read disk error code . Swapped out the drive with this one and we are back in business. If you are even a little bit handy you can get this done. Watch a couple YouTube videos and get after it . Oh and if you dont have tri wing screwdriver set you will need to get one . I got mine right here on Amazon set of 5 for like 8 dollars.

It took me 25 minutes to change this out. You will need a Y screwdriver to change. There are a few youtube videos to show how to change. You dont need to know about electronics to use. this.

Our Wii console had the issue where the system would start up and display the Wii menu on the TV, but the tile for the DVD game disc would never load the small preview and would show an error about reading the disc when you tried to select it. After following some detailed drive replacement instructions online (and cursing those Tri-wing screws left and right), I finally got it replaced. The Wii works normally now and the kids have been playing off and on for a couple weeks. So far, so good! My only tip would be to be very careful with the tri-wing screws. Some of mine were in rather tight and both the tri-wing driver and the tri-wing screws would round out and wear out. Ultimately, I had to use my dremel to very carefully cut a straight flat slot in the last tri-wing screw in order to get it out. Then, I did the same to all of the other screws in order to be able to reassemble. If you can find flat or Phillips replacements for the various screws, I would recommended doing that. But that tip is irrelevant of this DVD drive part. So far the part is doing as advertised.
