Ive been a Kryptonite user for years, and I still am. I think they make great locks, very sturdy and intimidating in that they pose some difficulty to a thief, enough to be a deterrent. However, they dont perform well over time. They dont like being outside for long periods of time, which is understandable. They stick, and eventually it was taking me several minutes to get my yellow NY U-lock unlocked. No amount of maintenance would help. So I got this thing. Its great. It stays outside with my bike in all weather and it works. Silky smooth. And its just as strong if not stronger than the Kryptonite equivalent. I love it. Its expensive, but you might have to buy it only once if you only keep one bike outside.

It gives me the comfort to run into a store for a few minutes with my OneWheel mounted to my soft top Jeep.

It broke when I dropped it on the ground.

I finally got myself a new bike, and wanted a new lock in the vein of a Kryptonite U-Lock. I have two previous K-locks that never failed me, but then I tend not to lock up unsupervised in public for long. I like the feel of the ABUS; the key action is smooth and the mechanism feels well made and sturdy. I understand that any lock is the best until its defeated, but so far so good. My one complaint is that even though its the same size as my K-locks, because of the U-bar shape and layer of sealant, it doesnt readily fit in my back pockets like a K-lock. I ride with my U-locks in my back pocket for security and driver harassment deterrence, so now I need to make other arrangements to keep it handy while riding.

This lock is SOLID, which is great for safety. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because it is really heavy. We bought if for my son to lock his bike up at school and it was too heavy to put in his backpack. We ended up getting him a basket to store the lock in. The other thing he didnt like was that it is hard to lock the frame to the bike rack at his school because it obviously doesnt have the length of a cable lock. It can be a bit tricky to get it locked up but once you do, you can feel good knowing its secure.

beefy beefy. But so much money. And a little awkward to get it onto thicker bike posts. Its a little narrow, but, Its for the better overall. it would make it awkward for someone to steal the bike then. Im sure only a grinder would be able to get through it. Soo much money though... I question if this was a necessary purchase...

This is a very solid lock and very heavy but it lasted only one time and the lock got unrepairable stuck thank god we were;t out riding as getting this off at a bike stand would have been quite challenging. I heard great things about ABUS but for the price this was a major disappointment.

Heavy,but with holder its a great lock.
