> 3 dayI dont know what is going on with Amazon these days, QC is in the toilet. Seems like 30% or more of my purchases need to be returned, either because they are more than lightly used, damaged, or just poor quality. I got this lock and it was obviously used, and quite damaged. I returned it immediately, of course, and ended up buying one (for full retail, quite a bit more expensive, like an extra $75) at a local bike shop, which carried Abus, but had to order this model. I guess I could have reordered one and hoped it worked out the second time, but I lost patience. The lock itself is great, probably the best U-lock made, period, but certainly the best at this weight. No bolt cutter is going to get through this thing. Of course, thieves in big cities use angle grinders, which will cut through this, but at least it will take a few minutes and make a bunch of noise. I would give 5 stars for the lock, and 1 star for the terrible amazon experience - and I am getting so sick of getting used and damaged stuff, or the wrong product from amazon I have started looking for stuff at brick and mortar stores again, and would rather pay the premium then have to keep returning things to Amazon, or trying to fix things myself. On-Guard makes great locks also, and Kryptonite makes one equal to this (but thicker - 14mm vs 13mm - and heavier, though a bit less expensive) as well as the NY line, which is even tougher, but at 16mm, very, very heavy. I also have an Abus 9mm hardened steel chain lock, which I really like. I use either the chain or the U-lock with a cable to secure the other wheel (although cables are easy to cut, seems hardly worth it to a thief just for a wheel set, but I guess on a slow day, they will do it).

> 3 dayThis product feels like a quality u lock. Though no lock is 100% guaranteed I feel confident that it will deter someone from attempting to break it if you leave your bike out for a while. It wouldve been nice if it came with some theft insurance the way kryptonite does.

> 3 dayThis lock has a reputation for two things: security and expensiveness. Security alone does not justify the price to protect my $400 bike. I bought it for me, not the bike thieves. I have to carry and operate it. Its light, and it locks and unlocks sooo smoothly. Its the bike lock that makes me feel...pampered. No, I do not sleep with it.

> 3 dayI was very impressed when I got this. It feels incredibly solid. A word of caution to consumers, its heavier than you think it is. Also, do yourself a favor and buy the one with USH connector. I got mine mounted on with 3 Velcro strap in the frame of my bike.

> 3 dayYeah, engineers in most countries would say the Abus is overbuilt... and maybe too heavy. True, quality, long life and functionality under adverse conditions has a price. For instance, read the review on the other leading company (the one whose name reminds you of the rock that weakens Superman) and youll find sometimes the lock wont open when it gets wet - BUMMER! Even my secondary U Lock (SIGTUNA) has a slide cover to prevent it from allowing water and debris to enter, while the design of the Abus apparently doesnt need it for years of use by others. And the Abus length is perfect - its 11.6 inches, compared to 8.3 inches on the SIGTUNA so often you have to settle for a less secure method to use the provided cable which can be cut with a bolt cutter. Then again, even if you only get a 2 foot ABUS chain it add almost another 4 pounds, so first ask yourself if you really need to carry 8 pounds of security versus 3.6 pounds for the SIGTUNA and half the price.

> 3 dayThe best U-lock on the market, in my opinion. Its expensive, but when protecting an expensive bike, what price security?? The best thing about it is the German construction, and the DOUBLE end locks, requiring only one key and one key hole. Anyone who calls this lock heavy, obviously has never tested the other high security U-locks out there, thats for sure.

> 3 dayIMO the right combination of size and weight, but you’ll have to be against the bike rack to lock the frame to the rack. Barely fits inside my bike trunk, but worth it. I would recommend the locking dock attachment if you have space to store it within the frame.
