> 3 dayI bought two of these monitors a few weeks ago and theyve been pretty great so far (aside from one issue which is described below). The best part in my opinion is the the thin bezel which is accurately depicted in the pictures above. In case anyone was wondering, the bezel (including the part of the screen that doesnt display any picture) is about 1/4 (7/32 to be precise). I was worried about the base not being stable when I bought the monitors, but the monitors are actually surprisingly stable. The main reason Im writing this review is to warn people about the backlight bleeding that is present on both of the monitors I received. The pattern of the backlight bleeding is exactly the same on both of the monitors, which leads me to believe that I didnt just get unlucky. Under normal circumstances, the image quality is great. However, if theres a dark image on the screen and Im in a dark room (when watching a movie for example), the backlight bleeding is very apparent on the two upper corners of the screens. This isnt a huge issue for me since I usually have a light on in the room, but Im sure it might bother some people. This seems like a pretty common issue on budget IPS monitors, so I wouldnt rule this monitor out unless you find a monitor that you know for sure doesnt have this same issue.

> 3 dayThis is a very good monitor for its price! I upgraded from a previous monitor that came with my Dell Inspiron that had Windows Vista LOL!. Very Old. Anyways my reason for upgrading: 1) Using it as an external monitor for my macbook pro for college work. 2) It connects to my xbox one s very nicely. Battlefield 1 and titan fall 2 looks awesome in this (in my opinion) BEFORE YOU BUY YOU MUST KNOW: 1) the monitor does not tilt up or down. 2) monitor does not rise in height and visa versa. 3) the monitor does no rotate To me this isnt a problem since my monitor is sitting on a monitor riser. However, if you are nit picky about this type of stuff, i recommend you look else where and compare! OVERALL THOUGHTS: 1) set up is very easy! can be done in 5 minutes. Simply connect the circle base to the back of the monitor screen and you are done! Its a awesome monitor for its price!!

03-04-2025Let me just start by saying this monitor in terms of price and image quality is very good. Its got nice viewing angles, a bright/vivid picture with nice colors, all three display ports/audio jack etc... its a matte finish too which is great for people who have keyboards that light up as it wont reflect onto the monitor itself like my last Acer H236HL did with the glossy mirror finish. That being said, this is my 3rd Acer monitor in a row that has shipped with exactly one dead pixel somewhere on the screen. The first one, an Acer H236HL from Best Buy, came with a dead pixel on the upper left of the screen and since I purchased that at Best Buy, I was out of the 14 day return window. I then decided to give Acer a second shot with this R240HY model since it hit all the check points I was currently looking for a monitor mentioned above as the glossy screen of the H236HL was a big hindrance in any area with light coming in. After a day of using it I did a dead pixel test against red, green, blue, white and black backgrounds and against blue backgrounds it had a dead pixel right near the center of the screen. As usual Amazon was great with the replacement without hassle. Unfortunately my second monitor came with a defect on the upper left. A black dot was now present on the upper left of my screen across all colored backgrounds. I contacted Amazon and theyve offered me a refund but no further replacement which is still great service by them as this is completely on Acer and not them. I really liked this monitor overall but I cant let a 3rd dead pixel in a row slide from the same manufacturer and will probably have to look for alternatives. Unfortunately a lot of people easily overlook a dead pixel or two, or simply never notice them but I find even one dead pixel a complete failure on the manufacturers part and I will inspect every background on a newly purchased monitor. Note: if you go through Acer RMA, they consider 10 dead pixels acceptable on 1080P screens and 16 acceptable on 2K screens, so keep that in mind when shopping with them. In conclusion, its a shame because I really wanted to keep this monitor as the image quality for the price is superb, but its pretty obvious where they cut corners to keep the prices down. I urge all of you to do a simple dead pixel test online after a few days of owning a new monitor as youre entitled to a brand new product without manufacturing defects.

03-04-2025My son bought me a monitor like this last year. I loved it so much that I bought one for the office I work at. It was a GREAT deal when I bought it at $99.00. Very nice quality.

> 3 dayNot much in this area on reviews on this monitor, so just want to say I plugged it in, Powered up my MacMini and was amazed. I can see details in the shadows in brightly lit pictures. The colors are vibrant. There is a headphone jack on the back so I guess it has sound, my speakers are plugged into my computer. I did use a HDMI cable to connect, but it did come with a vga cable included. I didnt know what I was missing. This is the 23.8 version and for the money, I feel I got a great buy. I am a cheapo about some items and I dont get carried away on monitors. Ever. So, for the money, this is a really good buy. Hmmmm, now to figure out how to turn down the brightness a bit. ADDITION: So Ive been using this for a couple of days now. I work from home and use a computer to accomplish my job. I had no idea how much I was missing. First of all, I figured out how to turn down the brightness, and it wasnt rocket science but secondly the picture and text are so clear, vibrant, easy to read, rich, a pleasure to view... what else can I say about viewing stuff on a computer that I saw every day but without the detail that I can see now. Wow, I was missing a lot and didnt even know it. Yeah, Im liking this a lot. I know its new and have no clue how long it will last, but Im happy for now.

> 3 dayI bought this monitor in 2019 for my second computer and after a year I mostly switched on that computer. As I mentioned above, for four years I didnt have any problems with it and I love it!

> 3 dayI bought this monitor in 2016 and have not had a single issue with it almost 6 years later. It is good for everyday use and decent for gaming. I recommend it for people who want an affordable monitor and for those who like to use multiple monitors, the very small bevel makes it so that it isnt as disruptive going between monitors. For more modern gamers I would look into an updated monitor as this will only give 1080p at 60fps with an acceptable latency.

> 3 dayNeeded a cheap, compact monitor to bring back and forth to college and not be too worried about. I was using my TV as a monitor prior to purchasing this, and its night and day compared to the TV (obviously). This monitor is extremely thin, and has a really slick, edge-less design. The colors of this monitor are amazing, better than anything Ive used before. I guess thats what you get with an IPS monitor. I am running a GTX 1070 so this monitor is a bit low-end in comparison to the card, but it is working great for application. The screen really is the most vivid and beautiful screen Ive ever used. Even the 60Hz refresh rate is amazing, because I am used to gaming on an xbone with cinematic 30-fps. I feel like for the price, there is no better option. Once I am out of college, I will upgrade to a 1440p IPS paired with a 144Hz TN monitor, but for a college student this is more than sufficient. Some minor things I dont like about the monitor: -The external power brick is annoying. I would rather have it built into the monitor and have the monitor be a bit thicker. -The stand isnt the greatest design. It is not convenient to remove either. -Buttons are hard to push. In combination with the less than great stand, pushing the power button causes the whole monitor to tip and usually it rotates or moves when I do this. Not the end of the world, but it is annoying to have to hold the monitor down when pushing the power button. But even with these few reservations, I think this monitor deserves a 5-star rating simply because of the performance and quality you get for the money. I paid around $120 for this monitor which feels like a great deal for what I got. The screen itself, like I said, is amazing, vivid and clear. 10/10 would buy again.

> 3 dayWriting a novel while suffering from migraine is enough of a struggle, without flickering screens. This is amazingly better than the one it replaced. My other computer is for internet or a movie; this one is for writing and editing (the most hours). It was advertised as a gaming monitor. Refresh rates are vital for any task involving screen time... even hunt & peck typing.
