Purchased laptop in December 2019. Use the laptop a few times each week, nothing extravagant. Found laptop unresponsive on bed. Charging but no power. Turns out the processor burnt out with minimal use. All Attempts made to reach ACER customer support unsuccessful. Website 404 and listed number does not work. Would not recommend. Nonsense.

My old Lenovo became more hassle to use for several reasons so I decided to just get a new laptop. Im not a computer nerd and my needs are very simple so I looked at several review sites for low-priced laptops and found that several recommended the Acer Aspire 5 Slim Laptop. Im very happy with mine, its light, thin, good looking, has a great display, back-lit keyboard and, to me, is blindingly fast. I like that it has a solid state drive as well. The only thing I dont like is the huge built-in mouse pad because its too easy to hit while typing; however its no issue for me because I normally use a wireless mouse so I keep the pad disabled. Another issue is it comes with something called Windows S mode which blocks the installation of programs that are not approved by Microsoft. Since almost all of the programs that I use (including the Chrome browser and Quicken) were blocked, I disabled the S mode. Once disabled, the S mode is gone for good and I say good riddance! Its a great machine if it fits your needs!

I have had it for 3 months and already had to take it to computer repair he said its cheap cheap send it back. It locked me out of my online banking nobody could figure it out. I say save a few more bucks up and get a good computer.

Im an undergraduate student and I just use this laptop like any average college student would. Lots of word documents, power point presentations, Netflix and Youtube, online lab simulations, I use some science-y type programs (admittedly I dont really know anything about computer programs or computers so Im not sure how difficult these would be to run any laptop but this one works with them just fine). I really love this laptop. I honestly know jack-doodly about computers, which makes me really nervous to buy them, but this one does literally everything I need. Its very rarely slow, it has plenty of storage space for what I use it for, I like the matte screen, keyboard and mouse pad all work great. I do wish the screen got a little brighter but honestly its not that bad. I would highly recommend this laptop for anyone whos just looking for a solid laptop to do normal stuff with (I dont think this could handle serious gaming or big programs that require a lot of processing power but if you dont need those things its great. I do minimal gaming on it and it still works great for smaller games and Ive used ERDAS Imagine, ImageJ/FIJI, and a program to run simple R coding things for school which have all worked fine as well).

I chose thise over Aspire 5 with AMD CPU as I think it is better value - longer battery, more efficient memory usage amd bit faster CPU. Touchpad bit wore though.

Works great for my purpose. I needed a lightweight laptop really only to mess with firmware on embedded systems. Just for kicks I upgraded the ram to maximum 20gb, and swapped out the hard drive for a 512gb one. After upgrades still cheaper than other laptops with similar specs. Changed to linux mint which runs smoothly. Not a gaming computer, but a great, affordable, really lightweight multipurpose laptop.

So far so good. I switched it out of S-mode so I could download and install Google Chrome, Photoshop, and a few other applications. Basically, switching out of S-mode means you dont have to ONLY use Microsoft approved products, so it is a no-brainer. I plan to upgrade the memory in the future, but for now its great! Looks good, is very light, love the matte finish screen (not super glossy), and small thin border around the screen. Great product so far!
