This monitor is a good price for what you get, but you may strugle with it for use as a gaming monitor. The main issue, it ghosts BAD. Almost as if the hardware can function at a high refresh rate, but the display panel can not. I found that it is best (relativly) at 144, than at 165 (the ghosting is real bad). Color is ok, not entirly accurate, and not able to display too many colors. But, the worst offendor, and will drive many crazy is the bad ghosting, where the image streaks as you are panning or moving a window around on the desktop. This become very noticiable during fast pace games. Darker colors are worse, and I found no reason to run at the 165 refresh rate. Decent for the price, but far from a gaming monitor.

The image, colors and all that looks really good, mostly if we consider that it offers you a lot of things for a low price. However, the main and only issue (so far) is the ghosting. I don’t know why but the ghosting on this monitor is more than annoying, to me at least. I don’t know if it is just mine that came defective or what, but I have tried (almost) everything. One of the few things that helped a little was setting the monitor to 60hz on windows. However, if I wanted to play at 60hz then I would have bought another monitor… probably a cheaper one.

First things first this is a very nice little 144hz monitor. Yes, this is a 144hz monitor. People in the reviews seem to be oblivious to the fact that you need a DP cable to reach 144hz. A HDMI will only get you to 60hz. On top of this, PS4 and Xbox One only play at 60hz. If youre buying this for console gaming, dont bother. The amount of questions/reviews I saw asking about these issues was absurd, so hopefully I helped clear that up for anyone confused. Now to get into the pros/cons... Pros: - The price. I bought this for $169 ($192 after tax), which seems like a fair price. - The speakers are actually surprisingly good. I mainly use a headset, but its nice knowing that the speakers arent absolute garbage like other monitors - PC gaming looks great. 144hz is a game changer, and the screen quality and resolution is exactly what youd expect. Cons: - The bezels. After using the Scepter 165hz monitor I was shocked to see just how large the bezels are on the Acer monitor. To give an understandable comparison, if the Scepter monitor is the iPhone X, the Acer KG241Q is an iPhone 5. - The monitor stand. Holy cow this thing sucks. For one its super bulky and cumbersome. Secondly it is completely static. You cant move it side to side or adjust the height. Adding on, you can BARELY adjust the angle of the screen. The screen either stands up completely straight, or you can rotate it maybe 15 degrees tops. Super frustrating. - Overall the monitor feels very cheap. From the stand, to the input buttons, it feels like a top of the line monitor from 5 years ago. Overall this is a good monitor. Its 144hz and it works, so in that regard buy with confidence. That being said, my Sceptre E255B-1658A is so much better in so many ways and it is the exact same price as this monitor. My brother also has the Acer XFA240 ($199), and if you have an extra $20 to spend, I recommend that option instead.

Onboard Monitor Menu: Yes it is accessible by a joystick, plus you have 3 buttons to help you select different categories or customizable modes. Frame and Edges: 0.5 inches from the edge we start to see the screen. This means that 1 inch would separate two of these monitors side-by-side. This is fairly decent for a dual setup, I would personally invest in a 2k/4k monitor setup to bundle with this monitor. Viewing Angles: This monitor truly has very sharp and stunning viewing angles, furthermore it is perfect for doing editing on a budget. Brightness or Luminance: Extremely bright in fact, it is crazy bright. I have mine running on 0% brightness with night mode enable and it is still bright. I would have to tweak the settings outside of the brightness to dim the light on this monitor. This is an LCD LED backlight panel. Response Rate: HDMI 2.0 and a display cable out of the box that supports up to 165hz. I have not experienced any form of ghosting, I do not have a GPU so I am currently running a Ryzen 2200g APU. I have played Apex Legends, COD War Zone, and League of Legends. I am unable to test other games as I am without the RTX 3080 at this time. Adjustability: The monitor is able to tilt up or down. You would need a mounting stand to support the landscape view. This desktop mount is very sturdy. Display: Full 1080p FHD LCD LED Backlight Screen. This monitor arrived in a thick Styrofoam package. 100% free of dead pixels, I could not believe it myself 0 dead pixels. I have friends who bought pricey monitors that came with dead pixels. Surprisingly I have none of those issues. I did however noticed minor IPS glow. I would say very small amounts as it is almost not noticeable until the screen is pitch black and you have to stare in the left corner to see it. Comfortable on the eyes and suitable for gaming for extended periods. Monitor Size: 27-inch monitors range between 24-25 wide and 14-18 tall depending on how they measure the height. This monitor checks out as a 27-inch monitor based on my measurement check. Monitor Appearance (Build Quality): Black color finish with red accents at the stand, barely noticeable. Blue lit indicator when the monitor is on and dark orange when the monitor is off. I feel that ACER could have included some red glow backlight on the back, or a fancy imprint on the plastic to make it fancy. Speakers: Very good if you want to watch YouTube or listen to calm music while working/studying. I would not recommend them for your daily driver but they are nice to have. They are not so loud about 93 Decibels between the two of them. Contrast Ratio: Dark blacks satisfactory but could have been better. It is an IPS monitor which helps to deliver quality images. I have not yet adjusted the contrast because I am happy with the way it is. Bezels: Extremely narrow and handly noticeable unless you use some stretchy wallpaper. Stuck pixels nope 0%. 8 Months of Use Update: (Still I am unable to buy a 6900xt or an RTX 3080 at this point, I am thinking of getting a PS5 for this monitor until then) HDMI cable is rather unstable after 8 months, as a true chad I found out that watching some videos from some sites affected the image delivered to the display. It would need me to plug it out an in again, strangely this was not the monitor going bad it was just that the HDMI was not of that good aftermarket quality. Brightness - The nits on this thing is insane, very bright for some reason but I like it. I would give this Monitor a 9/10 for 1080p gaming.

Very nice monitor for the price. Everything it great it has great picture. Only con for me is the viewing angles are a little bad but not horrible. From the way I have to set it up I can see a little green in the white writing on the top right. Other then that it’s amazing for the price and I would definitely recommend it.

let me get the bad first, the speakers doesnt even work and most people said they were bad anyways but for gaming you use headsets anyways. gaming wise this monitor is amazing and perfect. Ive been using this for less then half a year and its amazing it gives the the extra frams some gamers need. also i like to say a 1060 6GB cant give me 144 frames on most of the new games, so you need so make sure you have a good graphics card or you will have to play on lower graphics. also make sure you buy a better display cable the using the one they give i just dont trust cheap display cables.

My husband plays online games and he loves this monitor. He had to adjust the settings and now says it’s a great monitor for his gaming. The only down side is that my computer tower can’t plug into it as well so it’s strictly for his PlayStation and I have to make room in our office for a second monitor for my computer.

Great monitor see far for gaming on a budget and the casual gamer. Annoyed though that the monitor was delivered with an hdmi cable as opposed to a Display Port cable and it wasn’t until I was informed after the fact by more avid Pc gamers that I wasn’t maximizing its potential by using an hdmi cable instead. Ordering a display port cable now separately, but feeling that a cheap, 6 dollarish cable should be included with the purchase to maximize customer experience
