Greater than one weekBought this laptop 5 months ago. It overheats really quickly and FPS goes down. It throttles after 10 minutes of gaming. Bought it as a gift for my son. Feel like I wasted $1300. Acer Support was no help. Asked me to reset the laptop and maximize the fan. Troubleshooting didnt help. Dont waste your money.

> 3 dayIts been years since Ive owned a gaming laptop, and was pleasantly surprised when I opened the package for the Acer Predator. I was expecting a bulky, beast of a machine, but instead I was greeted by a slick aluminum chassis with a low profile and an included soft case. The initial aesthetic impressions are top notch-- the build quality is solid, the keyboard has a good feel to it, the touchpad is great, and the chassis feels solid and doesnt mark easily. I should also make mention that the display panel is beautiful and has a great viewing angle. I feel like the blacks could be slightly better, but its a VERY minor complaint. The included speakers sound surprisingly good, although they are often muddled by the fan noise, unfortunately (more on that below).

After weeks of research and searching for deals, the Acer Predator Helios 300 was the one for me. I care about the look just as much as the internal specs and this one had it all. It looks so damn sexy and the internals are future proof for a good while. Its not as loud as I thought a gaming laptop would be. Great thermal cooling system to keep it from overheating. I could not be happier right now. Highly recommended and you will not regret.
