I was in the market for a laptop, as I felt it was time for an upgrade. Being a retired IT professional, I needed a laptop where I can use my 4K drone footage for video editing...and do some gaming as well. I knew what specs I wanted and what I was willing to pay...even if there was a trade off between specs and affordability.

I play phasmophobia and indie games and it runs perfectly. I’ve tried apex on it and it ran cooler than I expected so that was great. The only time I had an issue with heat is when I tried gaming and streaming on it at the same time which is unsurprising. It’s not a PC but in my case the portability is worth it

This laptop usually comes stock with Windows 10 but it seems someone decided to upgrade these to Windows 11. This means that you cant roll it back to 10 by the time you get it (because obviously the 10 days have expired) and if you try to do a clean install of Windows 11, the touchpad will stop working. What fixed this for me was going into optional updates and something being there that said to download if youre experiencing certain issues with devices and such. I hate what they did as the customer should have got to choose whether or not to do the free upgrade and not have this preinstalled.

I have used this computer for renderings in 3dsmax and it works well, sometimes with Autocad is weird but Im not sure if that is because of the new Windows it has, maybe it is not good with Autocad. The battery isnt that good, it sounds really loud when you activate the turbo but overall this is a good computer, the cost of it is proportional to the quality. I dont regret it.

Good for games

This thing packs a serious punch. It has handled everything Ive thrown at it without issue. I honestly have no complaints at all.

Awesome i bought a 32 inch screen with it and it runs any game perfectly.

My gpu has hit 2115mhz in Turbo, then like a civilwar buff it went right back to the 1800s. This laptop does punch well above its weight however even without the King Candy button.

acer helios 300 is the acers bread and butter laptop. worth it!

So I just returned this laptop, I received a defective WiFi card with mine, that made it so if the laptop was ever turned completely off, I would have to restart my router to be able to reconnect. The metal edges along the side, are extremely uncomfortable, and also would sometimes give me a slight shock. The cooling was great, and when it was all working it did game fine. I would say for the money purchase a product with a better build quality. Alienware M15 R4 or R6 are great options, as well as the Lenovo legion 5 pro. Those are the things I wish I would have known before I bought this, so hopefully this helps!
