> 3 dayIm a roofing contractor and regularly have to answer my phone & talk hands free while still being able to hear clearly around me. This was recommended by another contractor to fit the bill. I ordered it and was initially VERY disappointed in the microphone, no one could really hear what I was saying. I kept trying it in different context assuming it was a problem with background noise. I eventually filed a warranty claim, and Aeropex handled the claim easily online, and sent me a replacement set of headphones that have worked as described! Yes, its true that as a jawbone technology, the base isnt great, and if the volume is too high it loses sound quality, but if you need an open ear headset to listen to podcasts, audio books, and take phone calls its great! If you are an audiophile and need great sound at higher volumes then you probably dont want an open ear headphone anyway. Thanks Aeropex for standing behind your product!

> 3 dayThe sound has improved over iterations of models, these are not for bass heads.

> 3 dayWith one small design exception, these headphones are impressive. The sound quality is really good and they are comfortable to wear. Since they do not go in your ears, in high noise areas you will not hear what they transmit as well as you would with over or in ear headphones, but on the other hand the sound is pretty loud. The sound quality is more on the treble side than base. I got these because since COVID-19 began my work has been mostly virtual and that meant I had to have headphones on or in my ears all of the time. My ears started to get irritated by the constant headphone use, so I ordered these. The Aftershokz are not in your ears so they don’t irritate my ear canal area but let me get the job done. My one criticism, is that I would love to use these in bed while going to sleep, but their design makes that impossible because the behind the head part protrudes beyond the back of your head so you cannot lay back while using them. If they had a softer, or more form fitting back piece they would be ideal

> 3 dayI had a pair of the Aftershokz Titanium for a year and have to say I wasnt impressed with it overall. I decided to give the Aeropex a try, and my gosh what a difference this version makes! First to get a few things out of the way for those new to bone conduction. These headphones do not isolate outside sound - by design - so you wont be able to make out much of your podcast in a noisy subway car. Nor can you expect real bass. Its simple physics. If you boomy bass is what you are after, or you expect to constantly be in a noisy environment, youll be much happier with a $20 pair of earbuds with good sealing tips. You use bone conduction headset to retain full situation awareness of your aural surroundings. Compare to the original Aftershockz, the Aeropex is lighter, much more comfortable to wear, and have appreciably fuller and louder sound. Its completely worth of the $80 extra IMHO. I am also happy with the customer service - I had some issues with the multi-function button with my original pair. I contacted customer support and they sent me a replacement pair within days - no questions asked. There are two issues that prevents me from giving this 5 stars. First is the questionable decision to use a proprietary charging cable - sure the magnetic connection works very well and they are nice to include two cables in the box. But Id have much preferred a standard USB-C connection or Qi-based wireless charging, so I dont need to carry yet another cable when I travel. 2nd is a software issue - when headset makes a loud beep whenever you press a button, and its volume is not adjusted for the volume setting of the headset. So the beeps are startlingly loud when you are listening to some quiet music. Its gotten so annoying that I try not to use the headset to adjust volume at all at night.

> 3 dayPretty cool. Good for listening to a book or music while not blocking out family that might be trying to talk to you or get your attention. Good for running and hearing traffic. Good for driving and hearing traffic. Not great for biking downhill or at speeds which wind makes it inaudible. Not great for listening to something in bed/leaning against something because the back is ridged and sticks out past my neck/back of my head. So if I recline it pushes into the back of my earlobes and the sound pieces get pushed out of place, making it uncomfortable and inaudible. At higher volumes the vibrations tickle my face so much that I can’t do it for very long.

> 3 dayThis is my second Aftershokz headset and I am happy with sound quality and comfort. However, when switching on the mute setting on Microsoft Teams, this headset plays 2 loud beeps EVERY 5 seconds!! I have contacted the customer support and this is a factory setting that cannot be changed. Supposedly this is intended to alert you to the mute setting, but given long TCs where one is on mute for long minutes it is driving me crazy. Be aware that if you intend to use this headset for teleconferencing, this is an issue.

> 3 dayThe point of these headphones is to allow you to hear what is happening around you, so dont get if you’re looking for noise cancelation. I love them though. Great for taking a walk/running and Ive even used them with Zoom meetings so I can hear others around me in the office.

> 3 dayBone conducting sounds very exotic but its a little more usual than you might think. To get an idea: Grab a pair of decent on-ear headphones, place them on your temples so your ears are uncovered, and turn up the volume a bit. This is pretty much what Aftershokz sound and feels like. It makes you realize there is a bone conducting component to regular headphones. Similarly, there is still an aural component to these - if you have them sitting on a desk or hanging up, you can still hear them audibly over the air. For the price youre paying, youre getting a new usage experience rather than sound quality. Here are some examples: * Actual wet performance. Lots of headphones now have some kind of IPxx rating. While they arent damaged by water, that doesnt mean they *work* when wet. These do. You can listen to audio while dunking your head under the shower. Maybe thats not something youre going to do, but it means rain and sweat wont drown it out. Thats something Ive had happen plenty. * Isolation when you want it. ANC and a good seal are fine but they dont beat wearing actual earplugs IMO. I can put in some earplugs and still listen to a podcast while vacuuming my car or something - and I dont have to crank the volume. I think thats impressive. Still, some people cant do earplugs - OK, ANC is better for you. * Awareness when you want it. Things that need your attention can get it. That doesnt mean you can understand everything you hear. The effect is like having two people talk directly to you at the same time - hard to understand even one of them, and usually the loudest speaker wins. But youre aware at least. Those differences were pros in my opinion. Other pros: Long battery life, great power connector. Pretty good fit (for me - wife disagrees) as the device is small and stays firmly on my head. Also a pretty good mic set up - nobody has complained when Ive used these, unlike my other wireless headphones. Still, for best quality, wired is still the way to go. Cons are not insignificant: * Less audio quality for the money, to be sure. If you want audiophile equipment, move along. These cant provide it. If you just listen to podcasts and place phone calls, I think its A-OK. Also pretty good for providing background music while working. Admittedly, though Im not a music person, this is a little hard to get past. * Personally I hate the controls. On/off, volume, and pause are fine. Beyond that, Im struggling. My cheap plantronics phones are better here. * Bluetooth connectivity. I know Bluetooth isnt perfect and Windows 10 BT experience in particular leaves much to be desired. But comparing these to a cheap pair of plantronics phones, I expected more. The cheap pair connects faster, switches devices significantly quicker and both without as much manual intervention. This is personally my greatest point of dissatisfaction, as the Aeropex are five times the price. I really hope this thing can receive firmware updates to improve connection behavior. I gave these a try for 6 weeks and have decided to keep them, despite my reservations. It came down to the fact that, even with the shortcomings, I get a LOT of use out of them. Enough that I dont feel like rolling the dice on another product for now.
