Paired with a good gpu it will run anything you may want on high settings with good fps

Overall great CPU. 5950x was significantly more expensive and 5800x3d didnt have enough cores. Powerhouse for productivity and great for gaming. As with other AM4 CPUs, cooling it will be easy. Undervolt it or put into eco-mode if your case is airflow compromised and you will get better thermals. 5900x has great 1440p/4k gaming performance, excels at single-threaded tasks, and is exceptional at multi-core workloads. However, if you are going to predominately use it for gaming, consider the 5800x3d as youll benefit from its higher L3 cache. Now, the sale prices on these make the 5900x an excellent bargain if you dont need to go with AM5.

This is a beast of a cpu. Coming from an i7860 rig i had for over a decade this is amazing. This is also my first build using AMD which i am impressed, considering their bad run with bulldozer.

Upgraded from a locked i7 4790 to this lol

I liked how easy to install it was. Had a Lil trouble with the thermal paste getting into the pin sockets from removing my 3600x, but other than that, works great, and is even better than I wouldve thought. Never had any issues gaming, or being used for programming

I upgraded my GPU to an RTX 3080 and wanted a better CPU pairing then I had with my 3700x. This 5900x seems to be a great match with my GPU, no bottleneck to speak of. My video processing times have also been cut way down.

I bought this product thinking I could get more performance. Could not get it to work with my system. My product did not work as described, so I returned it. Amazon has refused return and charged my card. Do not buy this product from amazon.

Here is my take if you are only gaming get something cheaper (most of the people looking this i suspect) . This is too expensive for what you get and that application. it also is using quite a lot of power and needs a good cooler which you also need to buy. For that cooler you should adjust the cpu to 600 total costs (at the time of this). Also, you need to go into bios with amd to get all the perf people talk about. otherwise its stuck around 4.2 which by the way voids the warranty. This is an odd policy.
