> 3 daySponge filters are supposed to be almost an after thought these definitely were not. Add an air stone to it and you will get much better results. The sponge is just a little too fine a lot of debris stay behind after several squeezes during cleaning a more coarse sponge would solve this issue.

> 3 dayOnce again amazon sellers do something remarkable with prices for high quality items. Sponge filter (x3) works awesome in both my 55 and 125 gallon tanks. Does what it’s supposed to do and sinks/doesn’t float around because of the weighted bottom. Ez 10/10 for the price

> 3 dayIm pretty happy with the price and the outcome. I put 2 of these in the back of my 24x24x24 60 gallon cube. Note: This sponge filter will not operate without a bubbler. So far its filtering pretty well. It managed to filter the debris in the front of the tank over night with one bubbler connected to 2 sponges set to half strength. The betta girls are pretty happy with this filter and relax in the front of the tnak. The veiltail cherry barbs enjoy playing in the bubbles.

> 3 dayThese are working well so far. I may modify them in the future though. First off, I cleaned and soaked them in warm water for 24hrs just in case to remove any manufacturing residues from them as you should any product, but especially so aquatic pet products. After that inoculated them with proper nitrifying bacteria and put them into service. The only down side so far is that the air release holes at the bottom of the air tube are so small salts in the aquarium accumulate relatively quickly and reduce air flow, which causes cleaning in my case in as little as couple weeks. I may start by open the holes a bit to lengthen the air flow time frame (note this salt issue is normal and not because of the filter itself.). Secondly I may do the “air stone mod” (look it up online) to these filters just to simplify efficiency and slightly quiet them. Although personally for me they are not loud at all. They have been in use for few weeks now and have NOT killed any fish or other craziness others have mentioned, but again I take steps to reduce issues in the first place.
