Added this air compressor to my Jeep to be used to inflate my tire after off roding. Works great! UPDATE: 9-18-2022 DISAPPOINTING!!!! Have been using it now for over year to air up the Jeep tires after offloading and it is overheating after airing up each tire from 18 to 34 psi. Been having to wait for the motor to cool and reset in between each tire. Going to look for other alternatives for air before it leaves us stranded with low tire pressure. Glad I dont have air lockers Im using this for.

Been using it about 16 months now and it has begun to squeal like a pig, I am talking with ARB USA now. Lets see how this turns out Update #1 They are requesting that I ship it to them (at my expense) Will let you know what that cost? Update #2 Finally got around to sending it back , $18.75 to ship it via USPS Flat Rate Large box. Sent it on the May 17th. , they got it on the May 19th. Update #3 I just heard from them yesterday. even though they couldnt replicate the problem (Screeching when cold) , they are replacing the unit with a new one anyway (+1 for customer service) Update 4. The new one doesnt t like the cold either, but out of warranty now.

Perfect for larger tires. Buy once/cry once. This is my third (and final) air system. I wish I did this originally. Maybe learn from my experience?

Installed in the engine bay of my Sierra 1500. Wiring was a breeze and the compressor works great. My only complaint is that it gets SCALDING hot. When Im done airing up the hose by the compressor feels like its half melted and the air chuck that plugs into the compressor left a burn mark on my hand the first time I used it.

I have a 1998 Cherokee that has had an air locker of some sort since about 2000. For many years I had a Quick Air II compressor which served me well but not perfectly. I had several issues with it over the years. It finally quit completely about 6 years ago. After that I installed an on-board air compressor driven by the engine. This too turned out to have issues and I abandoned it. After that I returned to an electric compressor and bought a small Harbor Freight compressor just to run the lockers (all of my other setups were used for airing up and the lockers.) The Harbor Freight compressor turned out to be nothing but problems. Obviously you get what you pay for. The first one broke the pin on the crankshaft. I modified the compressor to use a bolt in the crankshaft and that fixed the problem. Then I had problems with it over heating. Finally one of the reed valves on the piston broke. I mention all of this to highlight all of the problems Ive had over the years with something that is dead simple. I finally decided to quit messing around with junk and go with a compressor made by a company who specializes in air lockers and also has years of experience and a great reputation. Looking at the price of this tiny little guy I though it was very pricey for what I was getting. At the end of the day though, Ive spent much more on unreliable and frustrating solutions. One major benefit, in addition to quality and reliability, is the fact that it is already set up to accommodate two solenoids and a pressure switch. I also believe you can get an air up kit for it if youd like. I decided not to run an air gauge as I didnt feel I need one but I believe it will also accommodate one if you would like. In addition it includes wiring harnesses to connect everything. I cannot comment on whether they worked or not because everything was already wired by me from my past setups so there was no need to read invent the wheel. One thing Id like to say is I dont think I would recommend the air up kit for this compressor. Not to use for airing up tires any way. If you were to use it for airing up balls and small items, maybe, otherwise get a larger portable compressor for airing up. Harbor Freight does make a larger portable compressor that looks suspiciously like a Viair and works quite well. All of this said, this is a great little compressor for running your air lockers. It airs up quickly and has plenty of capacity for this job. It is very compact which makes finding a place to mount it that much easier. After years of messing around with my air source on every wheeling trip it was nice to have a system that just plain worked and needed zero intervention! The price for this little guy may seem a bit high but in reality it is worth every penny.

To be honest, I was surprised with all the great reviews now that I have it. On some vehicles it’s easy to mount, but took innovation on my Dodge Ram 2500. With how popular this company is, it seems logical to argue they would have a solution for almost all Overlanding trucks. Additionally, the wiring directions were horrible, and I had to watch a million YouTube videos. I’m not great at wiring but I’m def not bad at all. The problem lies with wiring the toggle switch, because the wires that come with it are really short (about 2’) and it is difficult to wire. Most people wire the toggle switch into the fuse box (because of how difficult it is to wire it as the instructions call for) which required me to have to go to auto part store for special adaptors to do this operation as well as more wires to extend their length. In my opinion, they could have done a far far better job at creating more user friendly instructions for the DIYer person and included wiring components/solutions for all sorts of vehicles because that stuff is cheap. Be prepared because it won’t be a quick wire up and out project unless you do a lot of this type of work. Oh and to top it all of, it didn’t even come with an adaptor to hook up an female air coupling with the pressure switch. If you don’t know what I am talking about then look into it because you’ll need a special component that they sell in their additional tire inflator kit. This whole thing stinks because the compressor seems amazing and works well, but the experience of having to get a bunch of extra stuff to put it in the car was mediocre. Get it together ARB and serve your customers right.

I loved this compressor when I first got it, but it just doesnt hold up. Ive had it about 6 years and good thing its a dual because one side or the other is always broken. Ive had 3 brush failures, and one broken rod bolt. The compressor itself is fast, and relatively simple to fix. I mounted it under the passenger seat and its a pain to get it out to fix it. I currently need to swap the motor from the broken rod bolt in to fix another motor brush problem. When the motor gets hot, the wire comes unsoldered from the brush. Im about ready to trash it and try something else.

I bought this ARB compressor for my 2013 JKU after installing lift and 35 tires. I assumed I would install under the hood, but after talking with 4-whl parts decided to mount in the hidden compartment in the back. It fits great, keeps it clean and I can go from 20 pounds pressure to 40 in less than 2 minutes a tire. My only complaint was ARBs instructions, seems they could clarily the wiring instructions for folks like me not needing to wire up lockers. That said, ARBs tech was helpful clarifying.
