I can watch burned cd and dvd. Drive is portable. It is compatible on both pc and Mac. Excellent for traveling. Watching dvd is at ease.

Ive been using the drive for about 6 months. Its not one hundred percent silent, but actually very quiet for an external drive. Ive had no problems with read or write using compact discs. The cord is very short, only a few inches in length. The pigtail design uses two USB-A to one Mini. My device only has one USB input, so I plug the second into a wall adapter for power.

Since cases dont have a slot for a dvd player this is easy to use just plug in the usb and works.

I downloaded VLC onto my laptop, then plugged in the asus drive with the 1.5ft mini usb to usb cable. Once I put the DVD in the drive the DVD drive popped up on my computer so I could see it was there. Then I had to go back to VLC and browse to the video folder and pressed play, and the video started. Im so happy to see a DVD drive that works and comes with a detachable cable. The other DVD drives I tried out had non removable cables and the cables were too short, these arent an issue here and it makes me so happy.

Very stylish. M-disc support is nice. Used heavily and didnt overheat or create read/burn errors. cons: hard or impossible to operate with just one hand free. its slower than other drives - basic CD rip at 8x with some that go higher, of course, but tops out 16-18x. Somewhat nosier than other drives but not a screamer. Rebate wait is long: 8-10 wks from when they process the mail-in. FAQs say there is a way to get it faster (5-7 days), but I didnt see anything like that on the forms or how much it costs.

The cover is not a shiny metallic look like the images, its a very dull plastic. The concentric ring design is not as apparent. The unit is very slim, Ill give it that. Its also a bit loud. Seems well built enough, though a little flimsy. For the price, its fine, but there is a distinct difference between what is shown and what is received. Seems to perform just fine, so judge accordingly.

Value for money - absolutely! Does everything as advertised, easy to use and understand instructions, recognized immediately by my Win 10 laptop. Great program provided, also free trial storage. The only possible minus, might be the Y power cord they send requires an extension - needs to be plugged into two usb ports on computer for power- luckily I had one. I am okay with this for fast burning. Smooth, powerful, fast!

For those who are still burning CDs/DVDs, this is a MUST. If youre looking for an affordable disk drive that can both read and write a CD or DVD then this is exactly what you are looking for. I used this drive to burn audio CDs for my car and everything went smoothly. Youd obviously need to know how to burn disks beforehand but its only a small learning process. Not only can it write in fast speeds but its very lightweight and compact, so it is easily portable. Highly recommend!
