The box was damaged, though the drive works fine. 2.0 USB cable missing. Luckily, I had a spare.

The cover is not a shiny metallic look like the images, its a very dull plastic. The concentric ring design is not as apparent. The unit is very slim, Ill give it that. Its also a bit loud. Seems well built enough, though a little flimsy. For the price, its fine, but there is a distinct difference between what is shown and what is received. Seems to perform just fine, so judge accordingly.

My new laptop didnt come with a cd player and I had some programs I could only download from a disc. Asus is a known brand so I went with their external player. Im very pleased with this product. Easy to use and packaged well for safe shipping. Happy with my purchase.

Nice and sleek. Immediate recognition by PC. Burned audio CDs without glitch.

This is a great product if your computer doesnt have a CD compartment. Lightweight if you need to take it with your laptop when youre on the go. Works beautifully.

So on the product title it says Mac Compatible. the folks at ASUS were not kind enough to post their Mac drivers on their website. So there is no way to get the Mac drivers unless you have a second computer with a DVD drive to copy the driver from their enclosed DVD and then move to your Mac. I am even doubtful that the enclosed DVD has the Mac driver, but having access only to one laptop without a driver (this is why I bought this) I can not tell. I had to call customer service. The first line customer service is not able to email me the driver. He took my number and said that he will escalate it and have someone call me. So two days later exactly at 11AM when i was just about to go on an important business call someone from ASUS customer service called me back. He explained that there is no need for Mac drivers and that it should all just work. I thanked him for calling him and said that it is not working and I would just return it. I had to get on my business call and could not take the time right there to deal with ASUS customer service. Their first tier engineer should have known this info or he should have been able to escalate this ti tier 2 support on the spot. Them calling me two days later at a time when I could not talk was just not OK. I suggest you look elsewhere if you expect some form of timely customer service.

I was able to install some old games from CD-ROM quickly and easily with this. 10/10 would recommend.

What I like about this best is, other than the fact that it works perfectly, this one didnt give me any troubles at all as compared with a previous one I bought (and returned) because it was throwing amperage warning messages because it was drawing more than it should have (>5 amps). Thatll teach me for going with non-name brand, cheapo products.

All I bought it for was to play my cds - my computers at work and home dont have a cd drive anymore, so I got this. It works like a charm. Does exactly what I need it to do. Very happy. As far as what else it does, I couldnt say, but it does work well.

I purchased this as Windows 10 does not support my no name USB3 external slim DVD (it worked on Windows 7). So, I opted for a brand this time even though this is USB 2. I am guessing that since most brand manufactures offer DVD divers as USB 2 only, that USB 3 is overkill for a DVD. I chose ASUS as my new laptop is also ASUS, and the drive worked with no issues at all on Windows 10. The surprise that I got is the M drive capability which are DVD discs that have a shelf life of 1,000 tears because they do not use the standard metal foil technology. The drive comes with two discs to test, and if you are looking for a long-term archive option that does not deteriorate like an SSD or HD Drive, this may interest you. Other than that it was plug and play for me.

ASUS ZenDrive U7M is an external DVD Writer, ultra-slim 13mm form factor and a Zen-inspired design with a concentric-circle hairline finish that adds sophisticated aesthetics. M-DISC burning technology engraves recorded data into a patented rock-like layer that is resistant to extreme conditions, allowing you to save your lifetime memories.
