I would give this 3.5 stars because what I could hear sounded very good & it tuned out a lot of noise around me but not as much as I hoped. It was defective. I could only hear the background music. When I listened to TV I only heard the music but could not hear any of the characters talking. When I listened to songs, I heard the background music. I barely heard the back up vocals and I could not hear the main singer at all. What I could hear sounded good though. The case was as big as my two hands put together. It is really big.

The headphones come neatly packaged in the same box as the Slappa Hardbody case. Quality of sound on the M50s for price is unbeatable. The extra Slappa Hardbody case is amazing quality and will definitely be easy to pack and carry my M50s on the go.

These headphones are an upgrade from the Sony MDR-7506 thats Ive been using for the last 10 years. Better separation, larger sound stage and more complete isolation. I am perfectly please with them, particularly given the less than $150 price tag.

The headphones sound great, and the case is just the right size for them.

bought this for my son Christmas present he checked all of these products and he said this is the best.

My profile first: a normal music listener. I mostly listen to rock, but more than occasionally I listen to hip hop, classic, acoustic and pop. What I am not is an audiophile. Having said that, I have never been happier over a headphone before. And I have never been involved in so much of music listening before. It almost feels like an addiction, like the feeling you get out of playing Grand Theft Auto, you keep going until your discover newer and newer music. music I never thought Id like and I love every bit of that journey. The lows from this headphone are so tight, that the music feels refined, the vocals are not muddled but the highs feel just right. You really hear the music as it was originally meant to be heard. This uniqueness is what I felt lacking in similarly priced Bose and Beats headphones. They felt artificial and modulated to somehow make you like them. They felt somewhat like a poor quality food with some taste enhancers added to them to make people like them. But the ATH-M50x felt like the real deal, while the other mainstream headphones felt phony. Drawbacks? Yes, The headphones feels a little too tight even after a month of regular usage. I guess thats just the size of my head.
