> 3 dayI recently ordered eight 10.5 oz skeins of Sailors Delight at Amazons incredible add-on price. I plan on knitting a throw blanket and a triangle shawl with it, and Im just about finished with the shawl right now. Bernat Blanket yarn is the absolute best for blankets, shawls and throws. It is incredibly soft and does not shed or pill, as does other bulky acrylic yarns. The resulting article made from this yarn is similar to a fleece blanket or pullover. It is very warm. The only negatives that Ive come across with this particular shade (Sailors Delight) is an inconsistency in the density of the yarn and some fading of the variegated colors. My shawl uses two big balls, and the yarn from the first ball had a solid density and good color saturation. When I attached the second ball to my work and completed a couple of long rolls, I noticed that the yarn grew thinner and less dense, and the color saturation was more faded. Perhaps this particular ball was wound at the end of a manufacturing run, who knows. But because it was noticeably different, I unraveled the rows and changed out the ball for another one. Other than this issue, the yarn is perfect. In case anyone is wondering about how much to order for a simple garter knit triangle shawl (37 x 66), Ive completed a previous shawl using four 5.3 oz balls in Harvest and am finishing up my current project using two 10.5 oz balls in Sailors Delight. Hope this helps.

Greater than one weekWEIRD TEXTURED COMPARED... I have bought A LOT of Bernat Blanket yarn... HOWEVER, this particular yarn was somehow thicker and stiffer than others. I am making a blanket, classic double crotchet, with other colors, and this particular yarn is soft but also some stiffer and thicker (?) than the other yarn Ive used for other blankets aaaaaannnd compared to the yarn in using for the blanket with the Purple Plum color. The Purple Plum rows are bowing out after I have added rows of other colors and the stitches are stiffer. Im sure that it I will be able to pull out the bowing when the blanket is finished (at least for the most part) but I was astonished at the difference in texture once it was crotched. I did NOT notice when I had the skeins side by side. It was only after I started crocheting and after assembly that I noticed the difference. I LOVE the color. And maybe Im wrong and just an amateur BUT I ordered 6 skeins of this Purple Plum and they all seem to have the same quality. In the past (last year and a half) I have probably ordered 50 to 70 skeins of the Bernat Blanket yarn. Im not an expert, Im just saying....

> 3 dayI am relearning to knit after not doing it for over 20 years. I wanted to make an easy, soft, chunky blanket my family could snuggle under. I used the Bernat Cushy Garter Blanket pattern and size U.S. 19 (15mm) circular knitting needles at 36” long. I made the mistake of buying circular needles that weren’t long enough and had to stop and buy new ones which was frustrating. I doubled the yarn up using two strands at the same time which made this blanket even thicker. I purchased six balls of this and used almost all of it. Of the six balls, one ball had several breaks that were re-tied together which wasn’t a big deal to me but I could see with a more intricate stitch the break and knot would be super visible. The color I used had more cream to it than I anticipated but it still turned out mostly grey which was my goal. Also, due to how thick this yarn was and the fact that I doubled it up my mistakes were easily hidden and nearly unnoticeable unless you really look for them. The blanket is heavy, warm, and SO SOFT so thanks to this yarn. This yarn is perfect for beginners who want to get the hang of it and knit up a blanket rather quickly. I have requests to make a couple more of these blankets for my family and can’t wait to make another blanket with this yarn.

> 3 dayGiving 5 stars based on my first order! 4 stars wouldve been for my second order. My first order was for baby sand and vanilla - both were so luxuriously soft, they felt plush! I ran out of baby sand and had to place a second order. I knew I was taking a chance that it might not be from the same dye lot. The yarn arrived with a different dye lot and a different texture. It felt more like microfiber crustier material that is used for the regular bernat blanket yarn. This 2nd skein of yarn was also too dark to try and blend in with my project. I ended up having to undo my work and make it with a smaller hook to make do with what yarn I had left. Ill be using the second baby sand for another project. Its still usable yarn, just not as soft as the previous two. If you need to order multiple skeins of the same color for a project you are better off purchasing these in person at your local craft store to ensure the dye lots are the same or at least close enough.

> 3 daySo happy that this was a solid skein of yarn. Better than regular store bought yarn that had at least two breaks in each skein.

> 3 dayThe yarn is soft, but it was more than two pieces tied together, more like four. Kind of disappointing, because it is pricey.
