I like how simple it is to fill and empty. It does a surprisingly good job cleaning and pulling water out of the carpet which is the main reason I bought this. I didnt expect much given the low price but this carpet cleaner delivers! I still have it 5 stars despite a couple of things I dont like about it. Both tanks are on the small side so dumping and filling are pretty frequent, and the on/off button is near the bottom of the handle and not especially easy to operate or get to.

For over a decade now, I have run a company that supplies, trains, and services professional carpet cleaners, so I hope you will pardon me if I act like I know what Im talking about, lol. I have used everything from a Rug Doctor, all the way up through professional truck mounted machines. I have cleaned carpet and floors in trashed-out apartments, high end hotels, expensive lake houses, hospitals, and everything in between. Urine, vomit, blood, feces, coffee, Kool-aid, you name it and Ive cleaned it. No matter what equipment you use, the concept of getting soil out of a carpet is the same - use the proper type and amount of chemistry, proper heat level in the water, proper agitation to suspend soil, and proper removal of that water with the soil in it. Appropriate dwell time is also necessary for deeply embedded or chronic soiling issues. This machine is quite capable of producing all the proper elements when used correctly. I do, however, have a few recommendations on changes to the instructions given with the machine. First and foremost, use only half of the detergent that they tell you to. No matter how much soil is present, never ever use more than they suggest. I used only half and achieved fantastic results. I would imagine the full dose is only necessary for serious soil issues. Secondly, double up on the amount of dry strokes that you do, AKA passes that you make without pulling the trigger. Keep going over the carpet with the machine until you no longer see any water coming up through the window in the front. The carpet will still feel damp to the touch, but will be dry much more quickly this way. And last, do a freshwater rinse afterward with nothing but water in the clean hopper. NO detergent. You will see a tremendous amount of leftover detergent and soil residue coming up in the freshwater rinse (this step might seem like a pain, but you will be very glad you did it once you realize that otherwise, all of that residue would have been left behind in the carpet for you to walk on.) Follow up with the same double amount of dry strokes after the fresh rinse. No carpet cleaning machine, no matter how powerful, can remove years of soil build-up in just one use. Particularly if the soil has gotten down to the bottom of the carpet, where it is sewn or glued into its backing. Trying to soak the carpet and get all the way down there has the potential to destroy the carpets binding and destroy it. So dont bother. (NOTE BENE: This machine, or any other home machine for that matter, is not going to get pet urine out of the padding thats installed under the carpet, and soaking the carpet in an attempt to do so is only going to result in serious problems and microbial growth. Dont do it. Please.) The big difference between home cleaning and the professional truck mounted units is the amount of time its going to take to get the same result. You may have to use the machine multiple times, with a few days in between to let it dry completely, to get abused carpet to look and smell good again. And remember that soil and damage are two different things, so if your carpet is worn or abraded or has had its pile reversed by foot traffic, that is not something that can be cleaned away. It is damage, not dirt. So dont expect miracles. The brush on this machine is very good at fluffing the pile up and correcting crush damage, and it dug an amazing amount of pet hair out of our freize even after a thorough vacuuming. If you are willing to be patient, use the machine multiple times, and follow all of the advice Ive given, there is no reason you cannot get almost as good a result from this machine as you would from having a professional come do it for you. The difference is in the time its going to take, both in the cleaning and in running back and forth with the water hoppers. I still recommend hiring a professional for those serious yearly deep cleans, but if you have pets or small children in the house this machine is an excellent way to avoid add-on charges for chronic soil and serious restoration issues when you do have the professionals come in to service you.

    Greater than one week

I received this last week. I have cleaned 3 carpets so far. I have a handheld spot cleaner and a very large sanitaire machine that holds 6 gallons of water. This machine is so easy to use. In a weird sort of way, its almost fun to use. Its great for traffic areas that take a beating. Other reviewers mentioned the small tank size. For me, it wasnt a problem. At least the water stays hot while I am cleaning the carpet. If the suction stops working, it means the float has popped up and the machine will not suck up any more water. You need to empty the tank. You can hear the change in the sound of the machine when that happens. Also, make sure the top gray cap is pushed in all the way. Some people said they need two hands to push the machine because the handle doesnt move back. There is a lever to step on so you can pivot the handle back just like an upright vacuum. For the people that have leaks, make sure the ring around the float is not cross-threaded or loose and the cap on the clean water tank is screwed on properly and snug. Of course make sure you have connected both tanks to the machine properly. I snap down both handles on the dirty water tank at the same time when I put it back on the machine. Some tips: * Make sure you thoroughly vacuum first. Really. * Use very hot water from your tap. Dont boil water and use it. There is a max of 140 degrees listed on the clean water tank. * Use the smallest bit of carpet soap. Dont use laundry or dish soap. Add white vinegar to the clean water tank too. * If you have really dirty areas, you can use the machine without the dirty water tank in place. That way you can get a fair amount of cleaning solution into the carpet. Then attach the dirty water tank and suck it up. Dont get the carpet too wet. * After you are done, put only hot water (no soap) in the clean water tank and go over the carpet again. Leftover carpet soap residue attracts dirt. * To extract as much water as you can from the carpet, lean over the machine, loop your hand under the handle on the dirty water tank and push the machine while pressing it into the carpet. * Set up a box fan on high until you are sure the rug is dry. Dig your fingers into the carpet fibers to check. * After you are done cleaning, open the side gray cap and dump the dirty water. Unscrew the ring from the float assembly and clean the float too. Put the float and ring back together. Leave the side gray cap open. * I put the cap from the clean tank inside the cleaned out dirty water tank. Unscrew the ring on the float assembly so you can put the cap inside. I put a paper towel under the clean water tank and slid it back on the grooves so it can air dry. * Take the machine to your sink without the tanks. I was amazed how much cat hair and grit there was stuck underneath. Give the underneath a good spray and check the red rubber bar next to the rotating brush. * I put it up on two wood blocks so the bottom can dry. * Pet stains are a two part cleaning project. Theres the stain and theres the odor. For the odor, you need a pet enzyme cleaner. Follow the directions on the bottle. Your pet may go back in the same place again if you dont remove the odor. Their noses are lower to the carpet and better at detecting odors than ours so get down after the carpet is dry and give it a good sniff. *** Buy this machine. Your carpets are dirtier than you think***

This thing sucks in a great way. The specs say 8 Sq feet but it does a lot more. The smaller capacity buckets are perfect size, imho. Larger machines get super heavy with both the fill and waste side. The best part is it sucks up a ton of water and debris from the carpet. Replaced a very old Hoover and I don’t regret the purchase one bit.

This product is amazing. We just moved into our new apartment and after putting our area rug down from our old apartment, we noticed that our dog had soiled the same area repeatedly, but now we were able to smell the stench. I tried so many thing to get rid of it and finally bought this unit. Let me tell you, it did wonders and removed the pee stains and to our surprise, picked up so much dirt!!! Highly recommend this to apartment renters who need an apartment friendly carpet cleaner! 10/10

Needed a carpet shampooer in general but especially because I have two cats and one is very picky about his litter box and it doesnt take much for him to decide to use the living room carpet instead. Looking through different models to find a decent budget one that wasnt too expensive I found this one and saw many good reviews. I decided to check if there were any used units available to save some more money and ordered one listed as used in good condition with cosmetic blemishes. When I got it in it turned out to be brand new. Everything was still wrapped and bagged, and neither water tank had any trace of ever being used nor had any odors. So the verdict? It cleans well but I have three minor quibbles with it. The first is the position of the power switch. Its on the back and almost at the bottom. This requires you to either bend down to the floor or lift it high enough to access it. Its not very heavy but still a bit awkward and I wouldve preferred a switch near the top or on the handle somewhere. The second thing concerns spraying solution. Commonly with upright shampooers youll start by moving it back and forth over the carpet while leaning it backwards at an angle with the head up off the surface and locked so you can spray cleaning solution as a presoak where needed. Then once the required amount of time has passed for the dirt and soils to have loosened and started dissolving you put it back down and shampoo like normal. With this machine however doing this will waste a good amount of the cleaning solution as it immediately sucks what looks like half of it back up. Im guessing either the suction is that strong, the spray nozzle is too close to the intake, or both. The third thing is minor and barely warrants mentioning but its still something I wish were different. The waste water tank is held down by clamps on either side. Youll have to bend all the way over and reach nearly to the bottom on both sides to snap them open. This isnt difficult and they snap open/closed easily but having used a different brand in the past where the waste water tank simply slid up and out, I wish it were more like that. I docked only one star for all of this. Its still a nice budget machine and Im satisfied with it.

So far so good. I loved how light it is. Hard to push the heavyweight ones at 75. This carpet is old and full of stains from cattle dogs, sick dogs and a dusty dirt road. Im going to have to get the large bottle of the shampoo so I can do another run on the living room and next the bedrooms. Im pretty thrilled so far!

This baby did my whole upstairs. Takes a little longer than my older huge one BUT keeps the water warmer and so easy to take apart and clean. Does a fabulous job cleaning and gets into small spaces! Such a great price and I am very pleased. Make sure you use their brand of cleaner for thsi machine. The spot cleaner just use your own. Great price and easy dragging up the stairs or lugging water tanks around. Smaller is better for women or even seniors!!

Bought this carpet cleaner to combat long-time, set-in stains that were here when I bought the house and had been made worse by traffic. My carpet is an older Berber, and it did fine with this machine. There was no snagging or pulling at any point. This is probably the best money I’ve spent in a really long time. As you can see in the photos, the dirt and grime was lifted completely from the carpet. The machine was incredibly easy (and satisfying) to put together, and it was simple to use. I bought a bottle of solution with my purchase, and I definitely think I would’ve needed it despite the cleaner coming with a smaller bottle of solution. But as you can see, these stains were big and tough. I vacuumed the hallways thoroughly before using the cleaner. It is a bit loud, so keep that in mind. It took several trips to either refill the solution tank or empty the dirty water tank, but those hassles were completely worth the results. This machine does have a trigger, and the instructions recommend pressing the trigger while going forward and backward. I ran the machine over the spot several times during the non-triggered (sucking) phase, and the carpet was damp at worst. It took no time to dry completely, and the smell of the solution did not stick around like some cleaners tend to do. In the picture with the door, you can see the stain has some rounded areas. I tried my much smaller Bissell pet spot cleaner on that stain. It was mostly successful, but you can see this cleaner removed the stain completely. Cleanup was only mildly tedious, with having to really rinse the dirty water tank, and then remove the plastic piece where the machine sucks up the water to clean it. I left everything loosely put back together to let it all dry. Again, these tiny hassles are completely worth it to me. I cannot wait to use this appliance again, especially knowing maintenance will be much easier each time. My carpet feels new, and it looks great. I know other Berber owners had issues, but I would imagine newer, higher pile Berber may react differently to the suction of this machine. My older, flatter Berber did fine. If you’re on the fence or have been eyeing this machine for a while, here’s your sign to buy it. It really works.

Very easy to assemble and put together myself, also it’s easy to figure out. It was also easy to figure out the water and the solution and stuff because everything is labeled. I’m a college student and me and my boyfriend just got her first apartment with our four bunnies and they run across this floor and shed their fur so much and they also have pee accidents all the time and I just got this rug a few months ago and I gave up on it because they were stressing me out so much about peeing all over it. This vacuum, save my life because it saved the rug. All the Pee spots are gone and all the fur and all the hair from the bunnies and from my self is picked out of the carpet and the vacuum doesn’t get it stuck inside of it. It shoots it out.
