Dear parent, you are reading this review, so you most likely are in a different boat than what you may have expected when you first welcomed your bundle of joy into your life. To overshare the appreciation we have for this product and its very accurate name, we have a child on the spectrum. Elopement is a description of a trait some of individuals on the Autism spectrum possess which can cause them to run off at any time, any place, in any direction in what has to be the most dangerous way possible to the childs well being. With zero exaggeration, this causes nightmares and grey hair to any parent trying so hard to catch their child who is running into the street in front of an approaching vehicle. Even with careful planning and doing everything possible to keep your child safe, there is always a very real risk that a simple trip to the grocery store is going to end badly. This harness is miracle of reassurance. Its easily large enough to accommodate a child in the 45-50 lb range. Everyones hands are still free to pick things up, practice holding hands in public, or give the child a small bit of freedom to choose to walk next to you without feeling physically forced. Will this harness prevent all problems? No. The elopement is still there, but what it does buy in a chance to snag a child back, closer to you, and/or use your own weight to stop them when they are overtaken a literal flight of fancy. The only complaint I could say is that its very easy for the child to perhaps figure out the locking mechanism and how the keys work in it. However, the keys are attached on the parent wrist side, so unless you have a master pickpocket worthy of being in the cast of Oliver, you should be ok. A personal tip I have for those living in cold climates is to put the harness on under the childs coat so they cant wriggle out of it, and then run the strap through a sleeve or similar. Do not feel shame when people give you the why are you walking your child like a dog? facial expression. You are saving your loved ones (and probably yourself) from a very traumatic trip to the emergency room, and theres nothing wrong with that. Just be careful not to get yourself hilariously caught on a street sign. Also, given that the design looks more serious and less cute animal, people tend to subconsciously accept it as medically necessary and less unreasonable fashion choice. Overall, five stars. Makes trips to the store less terrifying. And the blue is a nice color.

Great product wish it came in bigger sizes as it gets to tight when wore with a thick coat depending on the size of the child.

Took my nearly 3-year old son backpacking; he’s about 34inches and 25lbs. Veered off trail and hit soft sand. He lost his footing and slid down a ravine. I was already braced (due to my backpack) and just a bit too far to grab him. I grabbed the leash halfway, so he slid down about 2.5-3feet. Then I hauled him up by the leash/harness! So thankful it was as durable as it was, since I just saw reviews saying theirs snapped or broke easily. My kid’s not a runner, so I didn’t worry about the recoil effect when choosing this. I wanted something to help keep him close on hiking trails. This did that, and even helped save his life…the ravine was deep!

Me before kids: ugh, a kid in a leash? Some people shouldn’t be parents. Me with 1 kid: I get it’s hard but it can be done without treating your kids like dogs . Me with 2 kids: okay, maybe like an airport or amusement park? Me with 3 kids: Did you guys know they made handcuffs for kids?!!! In all honestly, we got this after a few dashes into a busy street during school drop off (luckily empty each time). Works well and tough for even an escape artist to get off without your approval.

My 2 year old doesn’t like being in a stroller and he like to take off in public places. We got this and honestly I was expecting some sort of meltdown when wear it but he loves it. My only complaint is the lock feature (keys) seem a little flimsy so I’m hoping they do hold up long term.

Does not adjust small enough for my 2.5 year old. Probably wont fit until 4ish for the harness. Wrist to wrist is a good fit though

As a now parent of 3. I was always that parent who said I will never use those “leashes” on my kids lol. Go figure. Bought this for my 3 yr daughter since I just gave birth one month ago. It is comfortable she liked it and didn’t even want tot take it off. She has a ear epilepsy so she is behind her age and sometimes she just doesn’t have it. So for her to actually like it and leave it on was great for us. I get to push my newborn and walk with her not worrying she’ll run off.

I love this! My 14 month old has been loving walking around on his own, but that independence results in him not wanting to hold our hands when in parking lots or trying to speed walk away from us when we get closer to him. The straps are actually so comfortable! I was worried the little pads would be rough but they are so soft. Super adjustable, although the part that goes around the chest is somewhat difficult to tighten. The locking feature is super comforting knowing that the child cant open it themselves. Let alone, God forbid, a stranger trying to unbuckle the child super quick. Gives me piece of mind. The keys are connected to the adults wrist strap. I would definitely recommend!
