i love this printer, it works great. its not SUPER loud but it does make noise but thats fixable since it has a quiet mode. picture quality is good, it actually surprised me. i also like that it has preset templates, for example you can print a checklist or notebook page just by selecting the option, i also like that it has a button to print color copies and one to print black and white copies this works great since you dont have to turn on the computer to choose a setting. it can actually do a lot of things without a computer except for maybe printing a document thats ON your computer but it can print it without the computer if its on a memory card. i was expecting some updates from my lexmark 3 in 1 dinosaur but i was just amazed at all the things this printer can do. Im sure if what you want is a for heavier buisness use you might disagree with me but if you want it for your average home use its perfect, and the price is a total bargain! the ink is a bit pricey compared to lexmark but i purchase the XL and i really dont print too many things so it works for me.

Wow, just what the doctor ordered! She even looks good! Like the closed dust protection features, ease of use, and quality of prints considering the price. There is no better deal on the net! Shes my first printer so I did my home work on this one. Very happy with Amazon and loved the FREE shipping! I highly recommend this if your looking desktop printer in this price range. She is a little loud, so use it before you put the kiddies to sleep. Ok just kidding, shes not that loud.... Thanks Amazon Ill be back

I got this printer Pixma MP480 two weeks back and it rocks. It prints awesome photoes. The print quality of color and B & W documents is awesome. I scanned my tax documents I got from Financial Institutions and converted them into pdf documents and the pdf documents came gr8888. I dont know why many people didnt know about this printer. I paid $69.99 @ Amazon.com. I printed the photoes on both glossy paper and Canon Matty paper and its amazing. I wouldnt print the pictures I hang in the frames using this printer. But, the print quality is scrap book quality. The Easy-PhotoPrinter EX is awesome. It is a wizard like software which walks through the screens. Im totally satisfied... The catridges also cost very less compared to other catridges.

I see that we have owned this since early March, 2009, nearly six years. We sell online and do a lot of printing. This printer has served us well. We actually own another. its a good thing... I had an error message just now. The Ink absorber is full. Who knew? I have researched the steps. It is kind of a dirty job. And the counter must be reset. The information is freely available online. The new part is only available from Canon. Here on Amazon they sell six models. I was unable to determine which one is for this machine. Here is a middle-priced one: http://www.amazon.com/Sparepart-Canon-ABSORBER-SHEET-QC1-0049-000/dp/B001U0AM0C/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1423692732&sr=1-4&keywords=canon+ink+absorber It is $38 plus $35 to ship it... say WHAT? For a little sponge thing?? Oh, and one is $524: http://www.amazon.com/Sparepart-Canon-Waste-Absorber-QM1-0659-000/dp/B0077JQSXK/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1423692732&sr=1-5&keywords=canon+ink+absorber They >cant< be serious. *Sigh.* Good thing we have another similar one that hasnt seen much use. We will switch them out.

I like my printer very much. The quality of print is great and color is excellent. It does a good job on envelopes including feeding multiple envelopes. It does seem to use a lot of ink, but I guess thats the price you pay for the quality printing.

Received the printer on time. Set up was easy and compatable with Windows Vista. The printer itself is slow starting on B&W & color copies.Scanning a item or picture is a little more challenging. The software could be more computer friendly for seniors. Overall very happy with printer and Amazon. Will continue to shop regularly....

The price on this printer was great, I bought it just to print a newsletter that I send out every month. I used to print this on a Pixma IP3500 and used 2 1/2 black cartridges at $13 each. This one used 4 cartridges at over $20 each! Id have trouble recommending this one, the cheap price will be quickly made up by the cost of the ink!

I have been a HUGE fan of Canon printers for many years. In fact I have only bought Canon for my own computers, having listened to complaints and problems about every other brand from all of my friends. The price alone on this MP480 (I paid $49.50 for it, with a $20 mail in rebate-making the total cost less than $30!!!!) makes it an incredible value, but it is also the best one yet for printing speed, quality and functionality. I LOVE the fact that it will print, copy AND scan all in one very compact machine! Goodbye stand-alone HP scanner, I never cared much for you anyway. And the fact that you can print photos from your camera and make copies without the computer even being turned on, is just awesome. Not only does it support pictbridge (plugging your camera into the printer) but it also has slots for your memory cards and a pop-up screen with a very functional menu to take care of almost any printing need, sans computer! It was a snap to set up, installed without a single glitch and, unlike the other reviewer who had difficulty with what they perceived as an antiquated, unhelpful print-head alignment program, I also found that process to be simple, fast and easy. PLEASE NOTE: If this is your first USB printer, you will need to purchase a USB cable because it doesnt come with one. So, why not 5 stars? I do have two complaints: 1. The best thing to come along with printers in the last 15 years was Canons innovative use of separate cartridges for each color. They last 10 times longer and save money by ONLY having to replace the single color that is out. There is only one possible reason why Canon has decided to stray from that smart technology - MONEY. Less ink in a more expensive cartridge means more money in Canons pockets. Still, these cartridges are cheaper than comparable ones for Epson or Lexmark printers and I have NOT found that the ink disappears any faster than other brands with a similar quantity of ink (buy the XL replacement cartridges for a better value) 2. I loved the auto-shut off feature of my ip2000. I never had to turn it off or power it back up. When I needed to print, I simply hit the print key and it did its thing. The MP480 either needs to stay on all the time (the menu screen does turn itself off after 5 minutes of non-use) or you have to turn it on and let it go through its lengthy routine every time you want to use it. That said, the quiet mode is quiet, the print quality is superb and the footprint on my desk isnt much more than my ip2000 and the multifunction MP480 allowed me to get rid of my bulky scanner, so even with its two drawbacks, this one is a definite keeper!
