Canon MP480 All-in-One Photo Printer

> 3 dayCanons PIXMA MP480 all-in-one printer has a very nice presence. It is very sleek with many preference options; it is very user-friendly and easy to install. You must buy a USB cable; it does not come with the printer. Pros: The scanner and copier are good quality and have many options for professional images. The printer comes with useful software and free paper samples. The print quality is good (you must set the printer options correctly and use the right paper). The printer is very quick to respond and prints full coverage pages quickly. Cons: Ink: It will cost at least $40 to replace the ink for both the color and the black cartridges. (The ink lasts an average number of prints as compared to competitive printers.) There are only two cartridges, black and color, instead of the color-efficient 3 CMY cartridges. Durability: The printer is reasonably priced, but do not expect a heavy-duty printer at this cost. You will get what you are paying for. The shell of the printer is flimsy. It is made out of plastic. Overall, you will be pleased with this purchase and will be impressed with the quality of this deal!

> 3 dayThe printer itself is decent. Its relatively attractive and easy to use. The quality of copies and photos is fine. Its noisier and slower than Id prefer, but I can live with that. What I cant live with is a printer that goes through ink so fast that I surpassed the cost of the printer after the third ink refill, and I buy the XL size refills! I find myself being extremely judicious about printing anything to try and conserve the short life of these cartridges. Dont buy it. No printer is worth this much inconvenience or money.

> 3 dayI replaced a HP printer with this Canon printer because of all the favorable reviews this printer had, and am so sorry I did that! I have to have the printer on my desk, and with this printer, for each new page Im printing, I have to stand up to place the paper into the slot at the back. With the HP printer, I could stay seated for all the paper feeding. As if that isnt enough of a problem, each time I put a new paper in the printer for printing, I must hit the processing button, and each time that has to be done, it takes between 25-30 seconds (I counted them) before the printer starts up, again. When you are printing a long document, this takes way too much time! I cant understand why any of the other reviews are so positive- how I wish I had just gotten a new HP printer!

> 3 dayFor the money, this is a dandy home printer for the non demanding. It gets the job done. Ive tried printing 8x10 pictures, and I saw about what I expected. If I want higher quality pictures printed, I need to spend more money, end of story there. But for basics, its just fine. Use the larger cartridges though. It is a tad thirsty, but not unreasonably so. UPDATE 10-02-2012: This printer/scanner still works flawlessly. Its a little slow but, it has NEVER let me down.

Greater than one weekWe purchased the Canon MP480 (all-in-one no fax) along with a new computer purchase late in February so have only had it in service approx 1 month. Set up and putting into service could not have been easier. There was a bit of confusion following the instructions, but determined that the automatic find and initiation was beter than instructions to the point that it seemed seamless. We have a 64 bit Windows Vista computer. The scan/copy aspects are smooth and easy with good interface. We downloaded Adobe PDF plugins for Word so dont know if that is the means by which we can save scanned items directly to PDF but that is neat especailly directly to multi-page documents (Only have Adobe Reader software). They are a bit large in size but efficient. Printing a photo on the included 4x6 print paper was very impressive. Printing in general is pretty fast ... home office with not intensive requirements. The printer is a bit noisy, but knowing that something is not breaking makes it OK. Have not had any ink problems thus far. Other reviewers complained about ink usage. The Amazon $70 with free shipping is a real value ... did not see anything to compare. I read reviews and also determined the Canon was a good buy ... performance wise as well.

> 3 dayPros: Pretty good printer for the price. I needed an inexpensive printer with a small footprint to take along on RV trips and this one fits the bill. Price for ink is OK. Excellent copy funtion and very good scanning. Photo printing is OK but not as good as my MP610 with individual ink tanks and 1 picoliter print head. Cons: Looks like a roaster oven. No individual ink tanks for color. Very noisy. Construction a bit flimsy but fit and finish is good, like all Canon products.

> 3 dayWe bought this to replace an HP all-in-one that was awful. This Canon printer is awesome--fast printing, great quality, and we dont have to feed the paper in one page at a time! Weve been using it for a few weeks now, have printed photos and text and used the copier, and have no complaints whatsoever. Couldnt be happier with this printer.

> 3 dayI like my printer very much. The quality of print is great and color is excellent. It does a good job on envelopes including feeding multiple envelopes. It does seem to use a lot of ink, but I guess thats the price you pay for the quality printing.
