21-11-2024Easy instructions to follow for first time player. I usually solo all of my games before I bring others to the table so it was nice that they included solo variant rules. Definitely a new favorite.

> 3 dayI tried out the web app when this game was on Kickstarter. And it was just OK. I wasn’t so interested in it and have avoided buying this game. Even the components aren’t that amazing: there are 4 goal types for each animal, and only two art works. I wish they had commissioned Beth Sob to do artwork for each card. I hate repeat art. The wooden pieces are nice because they’re wooden. But the image printed on is blurry. UGH. Have you seen Meeplesource wooden tokens? Now THOSE are nice and are basically my standard. Fast forward: I want relaxing games that aren’t too long because I’m super stressed out. Solo mode is necessary and if my elderly parents can also play that’s a bigger plus. So this game checks all the boxes: it’s relaxing, it has a solo mode, it has a FAMILY VARIANT - I wish more games did this!, it’s relaxing and not too taxing on the brain, and it can play quickly (in solo mode). Solo mode is great: you basically split the tiles in half and play with one half. Then you can play again with the other half. The complex rules is how to use the pine cones and the “overpopulation” rule. I highly recommend this game for its solo mode and for people who want to play with people who can’t tolerate so many rules. It’s easy to understand especially the family variant.

Greater than one weekCascadia is great light to mid level game that is fairly easy to learn and teach. Player count says 2-4 but they supply a fifth stater tile and we have played games with 5. We prefer games of 3-4 but fun with 2 and 5 also. Game time runs about 45min with four engaged players who have played before.
