When I ordered this it was listed as Photo Editing Software with a description emphasizing the ways it can fix your images. After watching Corels introductory video and trying the software, I would classify it as a file management tool that happens to perform editing tasks. In that repect, it is similar to Lightroom. It is not as powerful as Lightroom but it is affordable and does not require a subscription.

My husband and I picked up a Nikon DSLR prior to a China vacation in 2014. The D3200 is a low end Nikon equipped with a 24.2 Mpixel sensor, 11-point auto-focus, native ISO 100 - 6400 (extended to 12800), 12-bit RAW files. I have not attached any images processed by this software because, for lack of a better term, Aftershot Pro 3 does not appear to support Nikon cameras. Or if it does support Nikon cameras it is a well-kept secret.

A lot of reviews compare this product to lightroom, because light room is pretty much the gold standard in video editing, but it now has some major competition.

Having used several Corel photo editing software programs, i. e. PaintShop Pro, Roxio and MS Digital Imaging, we were impressed with the specifications of Corel AfterShot Pro 3 photo editing software and placed the order. Following the instructions on the ASP 3 card, I downloaded the 64-bit Mac version (other versions are available for Windows, Lenux RPM and Debian OS systems). In addition I downloaded the detailed User Guide to my iPad Pro for ready reference. Subsequently, logged into my Corel account and added/registered the ASP 3 program. After installing the program, I viewed “getting started with ASP 3 for a faster work flow” and several other (except the beginners videos) how to videos prior to editing a couple photos needing attention. First, let me say AfterShot Pro 3 is by far the most comprehensive photo editing program I’ve used. The enhanced recovery, and blemish remover tools are a plus as is the “watermark” and camera profile feature for professional photographers and webmasters. Overall, a slick five star photo editing program, at an excellent price - recommended without reservations.

I have been a serious amateur photographer for some time with more knowledge than talent. I have used Photoshop a lot but never used a work flow package other than iPhoto, so despite understanding the concepts of workflow I have not had any practical experience using any tool like Lightroom. So out of the box this was a little intimidating to use.

Ive been using Lightroom since Version 2 to manage my photo workflow and edit photos, and Ive been pretty happy with it. But Adobes starting to push users how bought it outright to switch over to the Creative Cloud at $9.95 a month, and I wondered if Corels AfterShot Pro could replace it. At only $79.99 (or, to be honest, free, to Vine reviewers) it was certainly worth checking out. Two days ago I received a padded envelope from Amazon that contained what looked like a cardboard CD envelope. The envelope contained not a CD, but a slip of paper with a registration number. As with Adobes products, to install AfterImage you download the software and enter the code to convert a 30-day trial package into a permanent install. And as with Adobe products, you can create a Corel usr ID at installation (or after) in order to manage your Corel products.

Not only will this not open RAW files from your camera phone, but it wont even open RAW files saved from its sister product PaintShop Pro 2019. It doesnt even support the open standard DNG file format (it says it supports DNG, but that is only DNG from specified camera models).

I am a total amateur when it comes to editing, but needed to try something for editing the photos I take for my business.

I bought AfterShot Pro 3 when Corel PaintShop Pro 2019 displayed an automated sales pitch while I was trying to edit a RAW file (basically, it said that I could do more with AfterShot Pro 3 in terms of RAW file editing). So, I bought the upgrade directly from Corel and the application absolutely does not recognized RAW files from Panasonic cameras. There is proposed fix on the Corel website but the fix does not help at all. I have asked for my money back and has also sent a request for technical help (so far, no response). Further, I dont see what this application offers beyond Corel PaintShop Pro 2019 (which is fine, with a few bugs here and there).

One of the main applications for the program like this is to edit raw image files. This one does not support newer Panasonic camera models. So it is useless for those camera owners, as it would not open their raw files. I would not be surprised if AfterShot Pro3 was not current on other camera brands either.
