While I think this software has a lot going for it, I also think that theres some things that need improvement. For instance, when attempting to view the Training/Getting Started videos (online) theres a constant nag screen that comes up to upgrade to a paid membership (after a few trial days). Membership starts at $9.99/month (StudioBackLot) which appears almost dated-looking, to pricey for what it offers and isnt tempting enough for me to even consider. On a desktop with barely anything on it that could slow it down, the software opens up painfully sluggishly and takes a long time to fully load. I have some intensive Adobe Photoshop software that doesnt open this poorly on a separate and more heavily loaded desktop, so Im not sure what the issue is with this program. Once open, theres a lot going on (like most higher-end editing programs) and the learning curve is fairly large for those coming in to anything other than very basic photo/video editing. However, this software offers a lot of cool features not offered on my Adobe software. There are the basic video/audio editing tools but so much more that includes things such as face morphing, templates to use for special effects that go beyond the standard (compared to my non-Corel), The newer templates and editing tools would be very suitable for many of the more popular and trending apps and social media postings (or just adding a bit of extra flair to videos). Making a GIF is simplified with this program, and with solid video/photo and some audio editing tools, its a pretty nice fit for the newer (younger generation) content creators as well as more experienced older content creators or even just others (early intermediate users) like me looking to learn new things. What Im most bothered by is the very laggy loading time at startup as well as the hard push for subscribing to get the most out of this “Ultimate” version. Theres many paid add-ons that one could buy to make this software that one could incorporate for more personalized features, which is great provided one has the budget. Additionally, I like that this is a standalone, non-monthly paid software that offers much in the way of content editing, be it videos, photos or some audio. Ive not gotten past the learning curve portion to make great content yet, but if I can find free full-featured videos that dont require membership to speed up that process, Id feel more enthusiastic. Despite the afforementioned annoyances, this software offers a good amount, and if I could Id rate it 3.8 stars, but as it stand Im rounding up to 4. Thanks for reading.

This video editing software is not only affordable its very easy to use as it spoon feeds you in a sense. I am rating it 4 stars instead of 5 because it quickly starts to feel like an ad machine. I am not saying other video editing software may not have additional purchases. This one is just very in your face about it which gets annoying fast.

I needed some video software for a project and decided to try Corel VideoStudio Ultimate 2022. It was easy to install. I worked a bit with the tutorials and materials to practice with. I really like the tooltips when I hover over unfamiliar items. I think this is going to be pretty easy to learn and use. So far, so good. Paint Shop Pro was the first graphics editor I ever used, and I still prefer it to Photoshop. Because of this, Ive been a fan of Corel since they took over PSP from Jasc, over 15 years ago. Still, before trying Video Studio Ultimate, Id never used a full function video editing software before. Unless you count Windows Movie Maker? The included library has a few images and video clips that you can use to start playing around with the software. There are sound effects, music tracks and more built in. I was able to create a short, simple video from scratch using the included goodies in about 30 minutes, even with no experience using the software and without using the tutorials, of which there are plenty. Sure, its not going to win any awards, but it shows the intuitiveness of the software. You can import from multiple sources, export to just as many, record directly from your computers webcam or an external camera, and theres a built in uploader for YouTube and Vimeo, for those looking to be internet famous. For the price, the functionality is superb. The perpetual license vs. a subscription is also incredible, especially with the current practice of making software rentable. I cant compare it to prior versions, but I can say that if you have a need to edit any video, this is superior to anything that comes on your computer or your phone, and anything youll find in an app store.

Can not install: I could not install this software on window 10. It would give me an error stating: We encountered a problem while installing. Please contact Customer Support Corel Customer support: I contact customer support by phone 2 times and email twice. The phone support would could not assist further than directing me to the download link (which I already knew / used.) and telling me that their support team would follow up with an email that never came. Trial installs but wont take serial... I was able to install the trial version and not get the error (same installer). The trial version has a link to enter your serial number. When I do try to enter the serial number it doesnt let me type in the characters on my card. Video Codecs changed... After installing the trial, some codecs were changed / unregistered which didnt allow me to play some videos. I was able to fix by re-installing a codec pack.

This is one of the most frustrating video software programs I have EVER used. It is NOT intuitive at all. So, the learning curve is ENORMOUS. If you just want to make some quick videos now and then, I would RUN from this software. It took me over an hour of research online just to figure out how to set the duration of some photos on the timeline. There are a lot of icons splattered across the program but you have NO IDEA what they mean. You would think that hovering over them would produce a popup text describing what it does, but nope. So, if you click on one to figure out what it does, it might change the entire screen and then you have no idea how to even get back. I guess if you make videos everyday, you will eventually learn how do it efficiently, but if you just make occasional videos, you will likely have to try to relearn each time how to do it and even research online how to complete very simple tasks. Its a very unfriendly program for the occasional video project. Another negative of Corel is the SPAM. It is just awful. Popups everything advertising other Corel software. As soon as you load the program, youre greeted with an advertisement for other Corel product. As soon as you exit the program, another popup advertising more Corel products. The software wont even close until you click on the ad first. If you download Corel software, beware. Your access expires after a while. So, if something happens to the file- such as needing to replace a hard drive, you will likely not be able to re-download it again from the Corel site. So, you better keep a backup copy of the file. I would recommend getting a physical disc instead of the download so you always have a way to re-install it.

I have used corel for over 10 years making shorter videos. Decided to go into longer edits. Brand new computer i9 12th gen RTX 3090 64 gig of ram. As soon as you input videos 4K like 20-30min long the program completely bugs out and can’t handle it. Gpu and cpu utilization stay around 2-3 percent. Even test renders with nivida settings do not utilize the card. Tried smart proxy, tried everything. Constantly crashes, video black outs, then to top it off they changed settings so you can’t fully block there invasive pop up adds. It’s like installing a virus onto your computer. I think if your making slide shows of pictures or short 10m videos you will be just fine. However upon doing research I’ve learned that Davinci resolve is free, and far more powerful and stable in every single way. It’s so amazing I can’t even believe it. I’m pretty disappointed this company hasn’t been able to keep up with the times.

Purchased from Corel directly. Too many issues in video quality. Example: when I want to join two videos and one of them was recorded in slow motion, the new slow motion video portion ends up with much poorer quality than my original slow motion clip. In addition, the program is difficult to learn, despite various tutorials. Customer service is not very responsive or helpful.
