> 24 hourMy husband has an older computer without a good word processor or other office tools. The Corel Word Perfect was easy to download. There is a CD and a web site. The disc did not work but the website had easy steps for downloading. There are other office applications with this too such as a slide power point and a spreadsheet application. I found the WP application easy to use. It had all the fonts I would expect although I did not find Helvetica but Times New Roman was there, and that is the font he tends to use. You can easily add tables into documents. Formatting was easy too. The spelling was fine but not the grammar section. MS word is better. All the tools are user friendly. Footnotes and endnotes were simple to insert also. I would state that with the exception of the grammar tool this is a very good office suite.

> 24 hourWhile many people I know have worked on and with MS Word for many years, I grew up using WordPerfect. My father was a government employee in the 90s and thats what they used on their first computers, and what we had on our very first home computer. So I learned WordPerfect as a teen and from that point on, I always purchased and used WordPerfect when I needed a word processing program. It just made sense to me and it was always easy for me to go back to and use. As the years went on there were times when I was required to use MS Word and using WordPerfect wasnt an option. I would tend to get frustrated because I never found MS Word as easy to use as WordPerfect and it seemed like MS Word was forever changing how they delivered their products (disk, subscription, online cloud). I missed the simplicity of the WordPerfect program Id always used. MS Word was always wanting to be integrated into the other software on the computer and had a lot of extra going on. But Ive always preferred the user friendly design of WordPerfect, and no subscriptions needed. I find it easy to navigate and it just works well for my needs. However if youre a student in college, be prepared to have most of your instructors require MS Word, especially now that they offer MS Word subscriptions free to college students.

> 24 hourI got this suite of software mainly for word processing. As such, I can give the WordPerfect word processor top marks. Ive been using it for about a month and everything that my old wp (MS Word) did, this does also, and does equally well. Some items are located in different spots in the drop downs and Im sure theres extra features in both that I probably havent tapped into, but for my needs, they both work equally well. As for spreadsheets, I have always been a fan of MS Excel, and i have several on-going sheets that Ive been updating for years. Opening Quatro, it appears very similar, and i set up some basic formukas and everything appears good. My only problem came when opening a spreadsheet that I originally devised many years ago. Ive been updating and altering it for years... its been through multiple operating systems (going all the way back the Vista) and multiple upgrades of Excel... it still serves me well. When I originally tried opening it with Quatro, it stumbled. It kept trying to open then would shut down. When I finally got it to stay open, I had to resave it in a different format and then it would start opening properly. This may be a result of the age or complexity of this specific spreadsheet, but i expect it may just be settings that its picked up from being translated and retransmitted over the years. After some difficulties, it now works properly on Quatro. ( I should also note that starting a new spreadsheet with Quatto has worked flawlessly.) As for presentation software, I no longer have much of a need, but i did open Presentations and played with it to get a feel for how it works. It seems comparable and very similar to PowerPoint. This suite slso comes with Corels Aftershot - a photo editing package that allows fairly detailed basic editing and correction, cropping, color scales, saturation contrast, etc. It does a nice job and is straightforward and easy to use. (For more fancy photo editing, they offer a pro version for an additional fee. All in all, this is a quality suite of user friendly office type products. Recommended.

> 24 hourSo let me start by saying that 30 years ago, when WordPerfect was one of the standard word processors, I really didn’t care much for the Microsoft variant. But time has gone by and while the latter made “huge” improvements it feels that WordPerfect didn’t quite keep pace. It joined the Corel family some time ago, which we can attribute the fact to that it even is still alive, but improvements are on a much slower pace than the venerable CorelDraw product line. One major issue with Corel software is the installer they’ve been distributing for a few years now. On my computer it simply will open a window but not install the program. Corel’s help blog shows quite a few folks with the same problem and to this date the only “solution” is a workaround to create another user account on the same computer ans install it for all from there. To be sure, Corel software is the only one out of a plethora of applications that has this problem. It should be easy to fix that, but it still requires the workaround to even install updates. So WordPerfect is the word processor as mentioned, and it sure does work and does a few things well. However, the interface simply feels outdated (not just compared to banner/tab design of mentioned competition). The icons really need a face lift and there is no real option for tablet mode (for fingers). Although it does have a Microsoft Word Interface options, that’s only the icons and associated commands, and not the banner. Overall, I really wanted to like it as I have fond memories for times long gone, but nostalgia really lost to what feels like an outdated program. Presentations shares a similar fate as WordPerfect, although within the suite it’s at least consistent. It won’t keep you from making good presentations, but it does feel less supportive in getting there. If you’re a MS PowerPoint user, it’s fairly difficult to get around and work with Presentations. Quattro looks as if it’s in the same category, but it’s probably the star of the Suite by sheer functionality. It’s still a spreadsheet, and many add ons require Excel while not supporting Quattro. It’s still fairly powerful and the nature of the program makes the somewhat clunky less of a problem. Overall, this suite is fully functional and does not keep you from doing great work. It does, however, make you life relatively hard if you’re used to the Microsoft environment. Even if your starting out, some functionality isn’t very streamlined.

> 24 hourI have used wp for years; it is vastly superior to W. I ordered this to update from 7 and wanted a disk. Timely received, but laptop would not read disk; indicated error message referencing original disk. But it loaded fine on my desktop. So I am attributing the loading issue to laptop. Box was crushed and seal on disk broken when it arrived, but it loaded and registered. I questioned how many users are licensed, and answer returned was 3. My reading of the license agreement indicated 1. For whatever that is worth.

> 24 hourWhy would anyone use WordPerfect in a Microsoft Word world? WordPerfect is losing market share to Word and now, especially in the legal field, you find Word is the standard. It used to be legal offices LOVED WordPerfect so I wonder how long the Corel platform will be around. But many still use it. WP handles long documents well and the Reveal Code feature has helped many a person edit errors and formatting in a convenient way. For home users. the advantage is the pricing structure. Like many software platforms, Word has gone to yearly subscription. You keep paying. Now in a corporate setting this isnt so terrible, because you should stay up to date on versions and not let the software drag behind. But for home users, staying even three years behind current is no problem as long as you are compatible with the most current operating system. (Im trying to say here, if you are still on Win7 will you please stop that? There are many problems with operating systems out of support; new software isnt compatible and your antivirus may not be effective. New device drivers wont be on Win7.) So WordPerfect lets you buy a copy and pay for it and youre done unless you want to upgrade. Pros: WordPerfect doesnt charge you for an add-on module in order to make PDFs, share and edit them. In addition to PDF functionality, you get eBook Publisher, and Mail Merge Expert. Cons: File sharing. This is sadly, the star-off on the rating. Even saving files in MS format, sharing can yield unreliable results. And if no one else uses WordPerfect in your work group, you wont be sharing .wpd files. You can save in Rich Text in order to remove codes that interfere with sharing but you can lose some formatting. Another downside; it doesnt look and feel like Microsoft Word. And the suite companions Quattro Pro and Presentation arent super great--esp Quattro Pro which didnt keep up with Excel. Bottom Line: For home word processing with a lot of power, this has it. The cost is a lot less than subscribing to Microsoft Word. If you dont worry about file sharing in Word, you will be fine using it. Basically, you get a full featured word processor without paying a lot, and for my needs at home, I do fine with that.

> 24 hourWeve been using WordPerfect (and its suite) for over 20 years and each update has gotten better. It is also a very familiar interface, so if youre switching from any other office suite the transition will be easy. Installation was easy and it uninstalled our older version of WordPerfect and installed the new one with no issues. It even kept all our macros (though assigned keyboard shortcuts were lost). Compatibility with other document types is superior to the other suites, and the native import from/export to PDF is exceptional. I also like that it has a native eBook publishing option now for both EPUB and MOBI files, making this a true one-stop-shop for writers and office personnel. The DVD does contain all the files, but you can also download the latest installation file from the Corel website (584 MB) and install with the serial from the DVD, which saves you the check for updates step at the end of the installation. If you are looking for a less expensive suite of programs (or a non-subscription version) to do everything you need that also has robust functionality and compatibility, this is it.

> 24 hourI purchased the Word Perfect product in order to do legal transcription work. I used Word Perfect many years ago in the legal field so am now getting reacquainted with the program.
