Beautiful shade of red! I bought this as it was recommended as an alternative to brown madder, which Daniel Smith doesnt have. Its not quite the same, but can be mixed to make some interesting and dramatic tones. As an example, my son wanted a Call of Duty painting for our game room and I used it to for the background of this painting.

I bought quinacridone pink and it smelled so badly of mildew and/or mold that I had to seal it in a plastic bag. I returned it and got a replacement and that one was just as bad. Completely unusable. Beware the quin pink!

There were two watercolor tubes in the same package. One of them looks like it has been used.

Although PO49 has been discontinued, this formula PO48, PV150 works well. Slightly less transparent and not as glowing, but still beautiful.

This is a beautiful color and I really like Daniel Smith watercolors. Why did I only give it four stars? The color looks so much like Cadmium Red its really hard to tell them apart. Had I known this, I would not have purchased it. Sometimes I think you just need to stick with the basics and blend your own colors. I took a photo of the two colors on paper side-by-side, but Amazons add photo/video button is not working for me.

I really love this color and I find many uses for it. Sometimes Ill use it in a mix where I might have used burnt sienna - which sometimes seems dull or muddy to me. In contrast, the quins seem lively and vibrant, and this color in particular is rich and intense. And I like the Daniel Smith watercolors as a rule anyway. I would recommend it to any watercolorist.

Beautiful color

I use a lot of Daniel Smith watercolors so this was a re-order. I use Quinocridone for my warm red in a dual primary system.

Finest water color paint . Nice rich colour . Love this product
