> 24 hourDarn Tough are the only socks I have owned for the last 3 years. I wear them for work ( power lineman), everyday wear, horseback riding, and hunting. I even own some of their ankle socks for summer wear with shorts. My other darn tough socks are the mid calf Standard Issue Cushioned Crew item #1474. I was glad to see they came out with a simular sock that was over the calf so I bought these in medium size as I wear a 9.5 and thats what the size chart recommended. The sock fits great on the foot but the calf portion actually goes over my knee. So I just fold the top down about 3. They fit great otherwise and actually stay up as I have small calf and other socks always slide down. My other Darn Tough socks never shrank and held up really great so I suspect these socks to be the same. I will buy more but will try a size smaller. Its really hard to find a wool sock thats over the calf and also standard thickness like a plain old cotton sock.

> 24 hourI was preparing to order my fourth pair of these when I decided I should write a review for my previous purchases. I love these socks. They work great and are durable. Totally worth it if you are on your feet a lot (and even if youre not).

> 24 hourI initially purchased these for a winter trip abroad, needing something warm and comfortable but also something that wouldnt need frequent washing. They quickly became my favorite socks and I eventually ordered several additional pairs, along with a few other styles in the Darn Tough lineup. These socks are so good they have literally ruined me for cotton socks. For travelers, especially one-bag travelers, packing fewer clothes and getting longer use out of them is super handy. And because these socks are merino wool they can be worn many times before needing a wash, depending on your personal level of foot odor and sweating. And when they DO need a wash, they are super easy to clean in the hotel sink with soaps meant for merino wool (dont use harsh detergents!), and they dry in about 16 hours. These socks are shockingly soft and well-cushioned. If youve never owned merino wool products before, fear not - this is not the scratchy, itchy, ragged wool of the past. Merino wool is incredibly soft and comfortable against the skin, much more comfortable than cotton! The biggest potential drawback of merino wool clothing is that there CAN be durability issues. But these socks are blended with nylon which greatly improves durability and a touch of spandex for stretch. If you have size 12 or larger feet, definitely get the XX-Large size.

> 24 hourI love these socks. I’m a welder by trade and am on my feet all day long. These socks are tough and comfortable. they take the abuse and still keep my feet dry and warm. Tad on the pricy side but worth the money.
