Darn Tough Modern

*** Update: After putting almost three years on some of my pairs of these socks, theyre still holding up well. A few pairs are getting just a bit thin in the back of the heel, but they are far from worn out. Keep in mind that Im wearing these at least once a week for work - so call it 150 wears and washes and theyre still good socks. Darn, theyre tough! Original review: I wear a size 12 and bought the large socks. They fit, but just barely. If youre a big 12 I would buy an XL. I love these socks. I bought two pair and have loved wearing them all day so I bought three more pair today - these will be the only work socks I wear all week. Whats so great about them? The heel and toe box are both full cushion (these are the orange parts) and are soft and squishy to protect my toes in my boots. The top of the sock is rather thin, which is great for ventilation. The shaft of the sock fits snugly without being restrictive on my calf. I bought these partly-wool socks to combat the nasty odor of my sweaty dogs, and it works so far. These are a good combo of weight and cushion for a heavy summer sock. I think for winter use I would get a sock with a bit more material all around for warmth. These are expensive, but so long as Darn Tough carries through on their lifetime warranty, I figure that I can spend $20 per pair now and never buy more socks for the rest of my life. Not a bad deal. You wont regret buying these for work socks.

These are probably the nicest socks I have ever worn.

Update 11-1-21: I can’t believe it’s been almost 2 years since I reviewed these and threw out all my Cotten socks… 2 years and several pairs of work boots later I am still using the same seven pairs of socks. There is a little wear but not even enough to justify sending any of them back for lifetime guarantee. When you hear American made this is the kind of quality you expect. I’ll continue to urge you and my friends and family to spend the money, get the quality and make your feet happy… That was a winter review. I also wear these all summer for 10hr shifts outside in the heat and they do not disappoint. I would change Cotten socks 3x a day from feet sweating in boots. I only change these socks out on sunny days over 90 degrees if I have to wear the same pair of boots all day. Usually just kick off my boots during 30 minute lunch break and good to go for second half of shift. Extremely hot days when I have second pair of boots available I keep same pair on after lunch… Check darn toughs website they have “socks for life” drawing often and sometimes they have give away items with purchases. I did not receive these socks free nor was I promised anything for review. Please if your thinking about it, buy these socks... I’ll try to keep it short but informative. I ordered a few pair n wore them for 2 days. Day 1: my year old beat to #%*+ steel toe boots felt like I was wearing fleece lined slippers even after working 10hrs of putting my feet through he11. Day 2 it snowed all day and I was trucking through slush for 10hrs. 2 pairs of steel toe leather boots completely saturated and dripping wet. Same pair of socks all day n feet/socks were dry to the bone. I don’t know how it’s possible but it happened! I ordered enough pairs to get me through the work week and bought a pair for everyone in my family that works outdoors for Christmas. Within the month I will throw away all my Cotten socks and only own Darn Tough!

The socks are awesome. They are cool and comforting.

Ive been an aficionado of Darn Tough for several years and have always been pleased with their product and customer service-their warranty DOES work, if needed. Yes, they are expensive, but they do what theyre supposed to do. In the case of these, I needed a sock that would stay up above my calves and not be too thick to go in my motorcycle boots; and they do that well without hot spots. Though these have wool content, due to the thinner construction, they may not be as warm as the Full cushion version of these. I ordered a Large for my 11D foot and the fit is spot on. If you need a pair of tall, thinner wool socks that have a great company standing behind them, these socks are a great choice.

These socks fit like they were formed just for my feet. Nice and thick plus very comfortable. Just wish they werent so darn expensive..

Over the calf sock worn with cowboy boots. Socks never sag, wear like iron and have a lifetime warranty!! Super comfortable just be sure to wash them correctly!! Worth the price

Love this brand of socks but needed thicker so went with Paul baunon model. Still this is a nice sock.

Keep trying to wear a hole in them so I can see if this company really will give me another pair. Problem is they won’t wear out…
