Nobody buys a defender series tarp for its light weight, thats not the point of the defender line. They are extremely tough and insanely waterproof, thats why you buy them. I use my 10x13 defender tarp for car camping, where weight isnt an issue. This tarp will stand up to any condition. I have a safari tarp for when weight and bulk matter. If you want the top of the line, heavy duty tarp, you want a defender tarp.

I’ve used this tarp over the course of several nights of storms. It’s extremely sturdy and I don’t see how rain will ever penetrate the fabric. The construction is also top notch, with outstanding, durable tie out loops. The extra reinforcements, including the ridge line, make this a tarp I can depend on for a long time I hope.

We bought for camping and have used it twice. Great size. All of the loops make it very versatile. Waterproofing seems to be spot on. Looking forward to being able to use it for years to come.

Water resistant, but not light weight.

Im more of a tent guy, by no means a tarp connoisseur. This is great for me. It doesnt have much of the crunchy sound most tarps do, its pretty thick and seems durable too. Picnic blanket, shelter, tarp for shade, ground tarp, hammock camping, all in one good item. Its not the lightest, but it it suits my needs very well.

These are the heaviest of the Aqua Quest tarp line up and to me they are worth the extra weight for bushcrafting/survival training. I am used to cheapie tarps so this is a luxury and buying from Amazon warehouse to save a little, this tarp is definitely worth the price. From Amazon warehouse it came brand new and I am happy to purchase an item that might have gone to the landfill. Tarp performs excellent with the limited test I have done to check if water poured from a water bottle seeps through any seem. Very happy with the purchase and Amazon in general. Would highly recommend this tarp to anyone who wants bombproof reliability at the expense of a little extra weight.

Am using this in an unconventional manner. Bought it to use in the midst of thinning tall hedges for privacy. Put up a line and simply used the tarps loops to hang on that line. It blends in rather well and its been up for a year this month. BTW, its in a western exposure so theres a lot of sun yet I see no sign of deterioration of the fabric. It was a pricey solution to my problem but worth it for the results
