> 3 daySo I just bought this item 22FEB2012 and tried to go to the website to register as a student to get my serial number to start the software but the website provided is down. I am glad that Nuance offers a student discount but if you dont want a bunch of bad reviews on your product and services you may want to get your registration website up and running. I immediately went to the main Nuance homepage to chat but that individual is just a sales rep and then only gave me a non-tollfree number to call...classic! Sadly they close at 6pm weekdays. Update 1: Website is up and running but very slowly. I was able to register and the serial number showed up really quick once I provided my .edu email address. I owned a previous version of this software so I will send out a second update once I have finished the papers that are due on Monday. Nuance reps FYA: Since I know you read these reviews, you should think about giving a trial period to register the product of say 10 days and then disable the software. This would help minimize these types of posts.

> 3 dayWorked great right out of the box, the student verification was a little difficult and annoying but once we got through that, it works great! Only needs a little practice using the headset but was very accurate.

> 3 dayWhen I purchased this product, it came without all of the information, meaning that I couldnt use the program. Neither Amazon, who sold the program, nor Nuance, who provides general support for the program saw fit to do anything about it. I was exceedingly dissatisfied with my purchase and ended up wasting a lot of money on a corporate wild goose chase.

> 3 dayoverall is that some people dont have @xxx.edu email addresses. If you have one, then you get your access code within 15 minutes. Right out of the box, it as excellent functionality (and Im using the crappy headphones that come with it). My field in graduate school is kind of esoteric and Im in health care already so there are a ton of terms that I thought this product would trip up on but it does very well. Especially after you do the training and let it scan over your word documents. Its really increased my productivity. Also, I thought the lag time between when you finish talking and when it appears on the screen would be a problem when I was watching the youtube videos of it in action, but its really not that bad of a lag. And even more, you could go on for like a good 20-30 seconds without stopping and after the lag, itll still show up very accurate.

> 3 dayIt is a lot better now but I still like this version and it still works! It is a lil difficult to train but if you got time it is great!

> 3 dayI am a happy customer of Dragon 10. I bought the student edition of 11 for a student friend. I was shocked and embarassed by the process of trying to register the product. You know how much you hate those refund processes which seem like a scam designed to cause you to fail? Well, that is what this feels like. You need to provide a complete description of yourself, your school, scanned copies of your student ID, scanned copy of paperwork from the college showing your studentship to be current. And the icing on the cake? You are going to send all this stuff to a third party who appear to be outside the USA and tell you it may take up to 30 days. The instructions are tedious and strict, and the follow up emails if they do not like what you send are abrupt and unfriendly. Yeah, really nice. I like Dragon 10. I am totally shocked that Dragon have such a nasty process for the Student Edition. Especially as this was a gift for another person, it has been an embarrassing and unpleasant experience. And, the product still is not usable, you do not get a code to activate the product until this third party is finished grilling you. Nuance should be ashamed to go to a third party and allow their customers to be introduced to Nuance in such a way. A Student Edition only exists because Nuance wants to make a good relationship with a new customer. What were they thinking? Such a shame that their technical nous is not matched by a friendly approach to customers.

Greater than one weekThis program has made writing papers for grad school so much better! I absolutely love not having to type every word. So far, its been accurate and very easy to use. I havent tried it with anything other than Microsoft Word, but so far love having it.

> 3 dayI have no idea how Nuance expects to keep their top rating when their system does not install on pretty standard systems that seem to meet their posted requirements. Buyer BEWARE! While their sales/customer support folks will tell you that your system meets the requirements the truth is that this may not be the case as I discovered after buying. It seems that you need to have a SSE2 enabled/compatible/??? processor. Additionally, while Dragon 10 and earlier versions do not require SSE2 they wont run on Vista or Win7! So versions 11 and higher need SSE2 processors, something not all AMD processors evidently have, and versions lower than 11 wont run on Vista or higher OS. Of course it took me over an hour on the phone to find this out because Nuances first response was You need a new computer. How do you know if you have an SSE2 processor???----Well I asked them and their answer is In our Knowledge Base online there is a link to a tool that will tell you whether or not you have SSE2 processor. In other words you need to find a specific post in their Knowledge Base then download the software from the link and install the tool, then run the tool to see if you can install their software. Duh! Really?! Sales wont tell you about this tool or your need to verify SSE2. Neither do their Tech Specs or System Requirements offer a link to this tool though these do state: (IMPORTANT: SSE2 instruction set required) Frankly their attitude was that they only deal with people who have state of the art technology and then only people who pay the extra $$$ for Intel processors. Very odd attitude for a company with a national ad campaign aimed at everyday people and students on a budget.

> 3 dayI really like this product. It works well. Sometimes it types things I am not sure where they are coming from but for the most part this types exactly what I say and does it quite fast as well. I do recommend this to others, but it does need to be trained to your way of speaking and your accent or dialect to know what word you want typed.
