> 3 dayIn doing work on my dissertation, I was looking for a viable option for transcribing recorded interviews to a text form. This would not only save me to time, but allow me to focus on the interview content over transcribing time. I contacted the company to inquire on the use of the program for transcribing audio files, and was told the Premium version 11 was the one to have for this purpose. Needless to say, the abilities of this program was explained in more fantasy terms rather than the reality of its capabilities. I took several interviews ranging in dialect, gender, and other characteristics, with similar poor results. I went as far to record my own voice, which the profile on the program was tuned into, and the results were just as poor. I am not sure what this software is good for, maybe handsfree command use for programs and computers, but transcribing is not it. Good luck to anyone purchasing this product, and now I must try to get my money back.

> 3 dayThis is a fantastic program. It can open doors, not only to the disabled, but to people from all walks of life. We can think much faster than we can write, or type. This program helps to corral, and then organize our thoughts. Im using it for school right now, but who knows? I might write a book later. I never saw myself as an author, but this program makes it possible. Now that I am able to write it, it will be up to the population to see if they are interested in what I have to say. Every child, and student, should have this program.

> 3 dayVery poor service. the product I cannot rate because I could never use it. I bought it, tried to jump through the rediculiuos hoops to get a code and never could. Called customer service which took forever to get a hold of. I finally got somebody with an american sounding name that could hardly speak english. They wanted more money to give me a code. I imediately sent their product back.

Greater than one weekI purchased Dragon 11 from Staples, not the student edition but the full price package. I have the box in hand, the disk, and the Quick Reference Card, and I paid extra for the blue tooth device. I have spent 2 to 3 hours trying to activate my product and appearantly I dont have a valid serial number. I cant even find one single place on the box or on the disk that says Serial Number ...... or S/N Thanks to Nuance for wasting my time and money. Your customer service and ease of set up is a total disappointment. I sure hope a competitor enters the market soon and takes your business away. You dont deserve any financial success you have reaped over the years, if this is the way you treat customers.

> 3 dayI tend to talk fast and mumble a bit and run my words together. Once, I got the hang of talking to Dragon, he and I seem to be on the same page most of the time. When, I am tired, well lets just say, Ive learned a few new words. As long as you speak clearly and at an even tone this program is great for typing in word and e-mail programs. Sucks in Excel, and takes over the +/- keys on my wireless numeric keypad. Corrections seem to take time, though some are relatively quick. I think that its me. There seem to be less mistakes every day.

Greater than one weekIm working on both a Masters degree in Management Information Systems and an MBA. Needless to say, I do a lot of reading, writing, taking notes about what Im reading, and writing about what Ive read. Ive always found the process of switching back and forth between reading and typing notes on the computer to be awkward. So, I tended to be rather old-school and just scribbled notes in the margins of what I was reading and in notebooks. That, of course, was inefficient because then I would have to type my notes into the computer in order to organize them and use them in a 21st-century way. I knew my archaic methods wouldnt pass the benchmark a thesis, so I bought Dragon NaturallySpeaking with the hope that it would help me streamline my note taking process. I was hesitant about purchasing the software because I had tried speech recognition software about a decade ago, and because of my tendency to speak quickly and mumble and my mild speech impediment, lets just say that the software was less than successful at understanding me. I shouldnt have worried: Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 11 premium edition is amazing. Its accurate, fast, and fully featured. Now, I can dictate my notes while I read, read my scribbled class notes into the computer, or speak my outlines, rough drafts, and brainstorming sessions directly into Microsoft Word, OneNote, and other software. Registration: Registration was quick and easy. I followed the instructions included in the box and had my serial number sitting in my e-mail inbox within minutes. The only thing that threw me for a minute was that the product code on the instruction sheet wasnt labeled as such and didnt look a thing like the one shown on the website. I have a .edu e-mail address from an accredited university, which is what I assumed streamlined the registration process. So, your mileage may vary if you need to upload a scan of your ID card or other information in order to register. Installation/Setup/Training: The software comes with a quick reference card that includes installation instructions. I didnt time it, but it took quite a few minutes to install the software. Then, I had to set up a profile, configure the microphone, and do the initial training. The software prompts and quick reference card make this process easy, but it does take some time. Perhaps because I have had problems in the past with speech recognition software, I was overly worried about Dragon NaturallySpeaking recognizing and understanding my voice. So, I went through several of the training scenarios, which took me about an hour. I also let it scan my My Documents folder so that it could get an idea of my writing style and standard vocabulary. Im not sure which of these had the greatest influence or if it was a combination of both of these activities, but the software has done an amazing job of understanding me from the first time I used it for dictation. It also recognized a lot of the terms that are specific to technology and business and even many of the acronyms that are used in technical and business writing the first time that I used them. The words and acronyms that it doesnt recognize, I simply add to the softwares vocabulary (verbal dictionary) via the in-line correction feature or by explicitly adding them to my profile. The Headphone/Microphone: Having read numerous reviews that indicated that the included headset had a less than ideal microphone for speech recognition, I purchased the

> 3 dayI tried a version of this product 16 years ago and did not like it. This version and that version differ like night and day. I love it. I plan to buy additional copies for all of my computers and several of my children who are in school. The accuracy is astonishing and the ease of use is incredible. If you try it, you will not regret it.

> 3 dayUnfortunately I am unable to use a keyboard effectively and so I depend on DragonDictate to help me in my business. I have been using Dragon NaturallySpeaking since version 3. Version 11 is without a doubt the worst experience Ive ever had with Dragon software. I cant scroll e-mail, it does not seem to learn easily, many of the commands that used to be simple malfunction like spell that, choose one it will not stay asleep and many other issues exist. I can only guess that its because of my upgrade to Windows 7 and 64-bit technology. Having said all this, I could not succeed without NaturallySpeaking, but they have really made it so much more difficult in this version for me.
