Installed this on my 2.5 ton Trane Xr series on my house (1600 sq. ft). Now my Predator 9500 Inverter generator starts the heat pump effortlessly along side the rest of the normal load from the house. Also it is easier on the compressor and fan rather than dumping the capacitor at once constantly using more energy and causing faster wear and tear like before.

This thing came without quick connects or ANYTHING to set it up. Customer Support didnt reply when I requested help on what size quick connectors, size of mounting screws, etc. This is very expensive and Im really disappointed that I now have to go searching for the parts to install. **UPDATE: Customer Support contacted me the next day & provided an install kit and instructions on wire connections.

Soft Starter brought down the on rush amps on my condenser from 109 amps to 27 amps. Run amps from 20 amps to 9amps. Made in USA support in Utah. Great product.

This unit should exist on all AC condenser packages. The fan kicks on first, then the compressor comes on gently. I am amazed. I installed this primarily to help with my whole home generator handling the AC starting. The second reason is to help with light flicker in my shop. I guess the third plus is it will lengthen the life of the compressor. To note, the starting amp draw on my compressor went from 70amps down to 29 amps. Huge difference that my generator can handle easily now. The install went pretty easy. You will need two blue female spade connectors, and one yellow splice crimp, and one yellow spade connector. Those were for my condenser, so yours might be slightly different. The online directions are fairly easy to follow but could be laid out better. In all, I am very happy with the purchase and consider it money well spent.

These are stupendously expensive but do actually work very well indeed. Has taken a lot of strain off of my solar inverter. The only bad things about it are very short Bluetooth range and the fact that it is on the load side of the contactor so you can only see whats happening when your AC is actually on.

reduced AC LRA from 70A to 26A can now start central AC using 8750 watt surge generator, love the Bluetooth connection, suggest you really read install directions and watch the install videos not for your novice DIY person, very pleased with results. Received unit less than 5 days after ordered

We live near the gulf coast, but we were also without power for 3 days last winter. I bought a 12,000 watt peak generator and was hoping it would power my 4 ton downstairs AC and fridge and freezer. Upon generator hook-up the blower fan started okay- but the compressor fan started turning- and then quit. I researched and found this MicroAir unit and had it installed. Now, I run my entire house with comfortably AC throughout. When the AC compressor starts there is hardly a hiccup in the generator.

This should be standard for every AC compressor. This is a no-brainer if you need to run your AC using a generator. The manufacturer deserves an award for the simplicity of installation and use, and design functionality. Our new (4 months old) 2.5 ton AC previously had a startup amperage of over 75 amps. Because the peak amperage exceeded the LRA 72A rating, our AC tech recommended a hard-start kit installed for $305. Hard-start kits are available on Amazon for under $25! This piqued my interest in this subject, so I researched it. For a few dollars more than the AC tech-installed hard start kit, I found this soft start kit. The hard-start kit helps to lower the starting amperage with a fixed circuit design. This soft-start kit uses a microprocessor to learn and apply the optimum four stage starting curve. If the hard-start kit is good, the soft start is at least four times better. I also appreciate the ability to connect to it via blue tooth to know exactly the peak and running amperages every time. The peak that was over 72A is now 19.5 to 22A, and runs at 6.7 to 7.2A. My 6000W generator struggled to start the AC, and sometimes failed. With this soft start kit, the generator now handles the AC starting and running with ease. Not only will it enhance the life of the equipment, but it starts more quietly, and saved me from having to buy another generator. Highly, highly recommended!
