Better filtration and better flow? I have a simple duct fan system to move air from my wood stove heated living room the the bedrooms. I originally intended for the system to run only when heating, but I quickly noticed the house was significantly less dusty, the bedrooms felt more comfortable year round, and the filters were catching an amazing amount of crud, even with the intake 12 feet off the floor! Combined with the amazing efficiency of the Panasonic 8 duct fan I quickly decided to let the system run continuously. It has been several years, and I have used a good sampling of filters sold on Amazon, starting from the most economical no-name on up to these. The 3M filters are far and away the best bet if your goal is pulling allergens out of the air. The amazing thing is while they are filtering better, they are also allowing noticeably more air to flow than the cheap filters!

Filtretes seem to do a very good job and are well made. 20x20x1 and 16x20x1 are accurate measurements. The larger filter for the downstairs system needs to be precise to slip in. Other cheaper brands have been a teeny bit too wide and an ordeal to install. 5 Stars except 3 for Presentation because when this set arrived one of the ends was a bit smashed. I will straighten them out to work.

I have always loved these filters. But for some reason they do not make a 19.5×19.6.. I have to master cut two sides of the 20×20 to make them fit my intake. I do NOT recommend doing this, but since I have master had skills, I choose to do it because I do not like the cheaper size that does fit. I also noticed they no longer include the paper insert, they want to save money on the paper but do not pass on the savings to us. Yes, I need to change my filter now, time to cut and tape another one lol..

A little backstory on me. We moved into our new house in 2011. We had a new A/C system so I wanted to get a high quality filter in place immediately. I did my due diligence and selected a Filtrete. Since 2011 we have stuck with these filters and have been happy with the quality, construction and durability. The price is higher than competitors, but my piece of mind offset the additional cost. Recently (Oct 2020), I ordered another quantity of six. Same filter as I have always used. Installed a new filter 24 x 30 . Same inlet opening over the years, however my intake opening is overhead, not in the wall. Took a new filter, and put it in the opening and turned it loose. It promptly fell out on the floor. I have never had this happen before.v Upon checking I find that the filter is actually 23.81 inches by 29.81 inches, but on the label it is designated 24 x 30. I called the manufacturer and complained. It was explained to me that I should have paid attention to the ACTUAL dimensions stated on the label. I have purchased these filters (with the correct sizing on the label for a decade, it is not my fault that they changed the dimensions and said nothing of it on the label. In my humble opinion, this constitutes fraud. They advertise one size, then pull the ole bait and switch with a different filter. I am sure they did it to reduce cost. They have to pay the multi-million dollar quarterly bonuses to their CXX people.. They probably saved $0.01/million filters. Bottom line, I no longer buy Filtrete filters. They had a good customer for the better part of a decade. I would still buy them, if they had remained honest with the advertising information. My suggestion is that you do not purchase these filters because I am quite sure that whatever you buy will be undersized. Shrewd business people. Sell a filter that will not fit the advertised size.

OMG-after just two runs the house is less cat dander free!!! Totally worth it for performance and exact size and fit. Don’t settle for discount products go with the widely known and trusted, i’m telling you it’s worth it if you and yours have ANY allergies to anything.
