Fluval Plant 3.0 LED Planted Aquarium Lighting, 32 Watts, 24-34 Inches

Happy with these lights overall. I bought four of the 32 watt lights for my 90 gallon / 340 liter tank (48”x18”x24”). It’s a deep tank with a cross bar, so I opted for four shorter lights vs. longer. First picture shows how I’ve configured them on the tank. My biggest issue is with the app. I love being able to control all my lights via one app. The only issue is that the the slider bar that is used to set the light schedule times in “Pro”mode is awful. I carefully slide until I get to the desired time like 09:00, then when I lift my finger it shifts to 09:02 or 08:58. It’s minor, but when setting 4 separate lights, I prefer to have them all change at the same time. I finally found a workaround by taking a screenshot of the factory light settings, then deleting and recreating the time markers. When you create a new time marker, the time can be set using a different selector tool that’s much easier to use. The good news is that once you get one light set, you can use “Save As” then export it to your other lights, so now I have all four lights on identical schedules. The “Auto” mode is much easier to configure, but only allows four times to be set while “Pro” offers 10. I like the “Pro” because it allows me to set a “low intensity” period in the middle of the day where the lights are dimmed for a while. One other thing that isn’t really an issue (just surprised me) was the size of the power supplies (see last two pictures). Based on the label, it looks like these can get pretty hot. So far, even after a full day of operation mine are just warm not actually hot, but it’s something I’ll keep an eye on.

Not as cheap as many on the market but the adjustability and ease of use of the app make the price difference worth it.

You CANNOT remotely access the light through the FluvalSmart app as it does not have wifi connectivity and is connected strictly through BT (bluetooth). This was not properly conveyed in any of the reviews that I have read/watched. It is not a big deal for me, it could potentially be a deal breaker for others so i just wanted to get that out there. As for the light itself, the spread could be wider (easy fix by pendant mounting it higher), but otherwise it works as it should.

Super bright and the App is great! I loved the nano light so much that I had to get this one. I love that you can adjust the levels of the light and time them to change pretty much as often as you want. I put my planted tanks on an afternoon siesta schedule so this is perfect for me. I’m also impressed with the plant growth under this light. This paired with the Fluval Plant and Shrimp substrate will make almost anything grow. Ive even had luck with some high tech plants that would normally require CO2. I love that you can manage all the lights from the app. My long term plans include switching all my tanks to either this or the Nano light so I can have them all listed in one place and can sync them all up...so cool!

It’s good for low tech plants

Super bright if you want it to be. The smart phone software makes this highly customizable. If you crank this up your plants will grow at an alarming rate! LOL Be careful not to crank it up to 100% right off the bat as you may find yourself with plants and algae growing out of control.

The sunrise/sunset and moonlight features are a great addition to the tank. My plants are growing extremely well. Be aware that a power outage will make you have to reprogram the timer settings, but since I have the settings on the app, it just reloads what you have saved. You will have to reload it if the power goes out, as the light will default to on. A little expensive, but it works great!

The package that the light came in was torn and beat up looking, all the functions of the light didn’t work. I reached out to the company felt like they were not to interested in replacing so I threw the piece of crap in the trash and bought another companies light that works as advertised. Will not buy from them again.

To be completely honest. In comparison to other tools you may buy, the price tag for what you get isn’t bad. The Pro mode really unlocked the true potential of this light. The fact you can run say, run blues and whites in the morning, 4 hours of the day on 100% power with warm white/pink with no blue towards the end of the day. Truly is what I’ve always wanted growing up as a kid in the hobby. Mimics nature the best one could.

These are great lights but I absolutely hate the fact that Fluval tells retailers to ship these lights in the original boxes. Come on Fluval! Get it together! At least include styrofoam in the box if you’re instructing retailers to ship in original box, without protection. Great light but I’ll never feel confident that the 3 lights I’ve ordered weren’t damaged during shipping. The retailer did an excellent job shipping this light lightning fast a week before Christmas.
