> 3 dayI purchased this since I wanted to upgrade from my edge 500. I’m glad I did. The touch screen is such a welcome feature. I installed it on my bike in 20 minutes. I took that long cause I had to change out the cadence sensor battery and I couldn’t find my stash of batteries otherwise it would’ve been 5-10 minutes. The edge picks up the sensors quickly. The HRM strap is the only one I sometimes have issues with, it will lose connection and not read. I solve that problem by putting some saliva on the pads and it reads instantly. Can’t wait to try it outdoors.

> 3 dayGot a new 1030 Plus and 11 hours later still trying to install maps. Garmin Support suggested uninstall/reinstall Garmin Connect. That was a waste of time. Had to readd devices which then prompted me to update maps. What a joke. Dont buy this garbage. I should have bought a Wahoo after previous miserable Garmin support. Garmin suuuuuucks!!!!

> 3 dayWhat can I say. It’s a Garmin. It’s going to work. I would have bought one model down, but there was a $200 discount at the time of purchase direct from Garmin and also via Amazon, which made this the same exact price as the lessor model - so no brainer there.

> 3 dayI am a long distance cyclist. I was able to link the Garmin Edge 1030 to my smart phone and download a course from ridewithgps. The Edge was easy to use for short rides and I was easily able to upload them to Strava. However, when I attempted a 400K ride this past Saturday with the external battery pack the unit ran out of power much earlier than expected (about 10 hours vs the expected 40 hours). Had to go into battery conserve mode, but unit eventually went dead. I suspect there could have been a problem tapping into the external battery. Both the Edge 1030 and external battery pack were fully charged prior to the 400K. Also, the unit can easily steer you in the wrong direction if the ride with gps course has overlapping sections. I found that out the hard way by going off course over the high bridge E of Ft Pierce FL.

> 3 dayExcellent cycling computer. This one measures everything a serious cyclist wants to record and examine. Thats how we improve. The one issue I have with it is in its measurement on inclines by percentage. It is very slow and keeps the rider to have immediate information about climbs.
