> 3 dayThe Garmin 1030 is blind even with GPS eyes. It is nowhere close to as simple and user friendly as the Garmin 1000. Its app installed to my phone, shows speed, presents a location map and reports GPS access is ok but always fails to show distance. Ive registered it with Garmin, installed and linked it to my smart phone, studied all instructions, negotiated an endless series of screens and googled how to setup and use it to report distance cycled. Still fails. Im 100% fed up this this overly complex Rube Goldberg expression of complex and meaningless steps leading nowhere. It simply does not report distance cycled. Returning the 1030 and going back to my trusty Garmin 1000

> 3 daySo far I am very impressed with this piece of equipment. I use it on my Nordictrack spin bike and the readings are identical when using the cadence, heart rate, and speed sensors. I have not taken it on and outside ride yet so I have not employed the different features such as the Maps and distance to target. The accessories were plentiful and fit on my studio and road bike with no problems. I was under the impression I was getting a black protective case with this bundle but it cam with a white one. Definitely not a show stopper, as it is a very good case. I am definitely pleased so far.

> 3 dayThe rubber cover ages in about 2 years and the frequent pressing of the on/off switch eventually breaks that cover. This happens frequently as shown by numerous web sites that provide a make-shift patch switch that you can glue on when this happens. This seems like a serious flaw and wonder if its the same switch setup on the 1030?
