> 3 dayThis device works ok. My 1-star review is due to the horrid customer service I experienced with Garmin when I was having problems with my originally-purchased 530 unit. I sent the 530 unit - which was FULLY still under warranty - back to the company and upgraded to the 830. Garmin tried to rip me off by not refunding me the FULL $300 for the original 530 unit and instead only refunding me $89 for it.

> 3 dayI like the fact that it is a dedicated system that has good battery life. I like that it monitors my speed, cadence, and heart rate. These features are great. What I dont like I the clunky and poor way that Garmin and others manage courses. Generating a course is a royal pain. Garmin seems to take a hands-off approach and doesnt provide what I would consider a necessary process of generating a course from an online map. This should not be an added cost (to subscribe to a paid service), it should be provided as part of purchasing the unit. I would even be OK with a temporary free access (2 years?) followed by a paid subscription. This is too fundamental a feature not to be included with the unit. Making a route is a pain, downloading is a pain, and after all is done, it seems to fail to accurately track the route. Still, since I dont really need this feature (it would be a nice-to-have and is a highlighted feature of the system), I still give it 4 stars. I have decided to use my phone and Google to manage routes and directions.

> 3 dayThe unit works as designed per Garmins tech support, but I have to tell you, DO NOT expect to use this when trying to learn a new trail system, and expect it to give you turn by turn / guidance through a planned route. The screen jumps and spins around while riding, and it just cant keep up. It will keep rerouting you and youll end up taking out your phone.

> 3 dayThe ONLY complaint I have so far is that this device has everything I need and a massive amount of downloads to cover just about anything and Im overwhelmed! I am a cross country touring bicyclist and before purchase had a long talk with a Adventure Bicycling (Bikecentennal for us forty years of riding a over) representative on the downloading of maps and how good the system worked - that about did it for me right there - immediate download, automatic updates, friends can log onto your route and it will transmit your location - could go on and on but for someone (me for instance) who has missed a turn even with a great map and had to backtrack 10 or more miles (on two difference rides so far) having a tracking map with constant updates and the when, where and how to turn is great. Ive done seven two week tours (was in the military so difficult to go longer) but planning a Pacific Coast Highway tour next year and this computer is the bomb!

> 3 dayI tried 3 bike gps: 520, 1030, 830 and this is the best. Bluetooth works, you are able to add maps, there are 14gb space, touchscreen and compact size

> 3 dayWorks exceptionally well. I read some negative reviews about gps signal not being quick enough on single track. I didn’t have that experience. Crazy amount feature. I have been using it for 2 months now and I feel like I know only half the stuff it has to offer.

> 3 dayI had an Edge 520+ before this device and its navigation features just did not work for mountain biking. So I bought this device for its touted mountain biking friendly features. I was hoping that one of these features was an improved navigation for mountain biking. WRONG! I have the following issues, with either a Traiforks or Garmin Connect route loaded on the device
