This keyboard is probably one of the best hotswappable boards on the market. It features USB type C connectivity and an overall sleek design. Plus, the board has a nice weight to it which further increases the overall sturdiness of the board. Multiple different lighting effects are available too. Considering there is no function keys (f1-12,) they are integrated nicely with easy hot key orders. Additionally, this board is 3 pin hotswappable, perfect for a variety of key switches. I used Kalih Box Reds and they sound great in combination with this new board.

Flash points: - Extremely high quality for the price. Mostly aluminum body, thick braided USB, feet angle is great. Hard to top in price range. - Hot swap PCB constructed well - inserting and removing switches has caused ZERO issues (NOT SO ON ALMOST TWICE AS MUCH DROP CTRL, WHICH FAILED AFTER 2 SWITCH REMOVALS) - RBG light dispersion & patterns standard but quality My only complaint would be to eventually move to an all aluminum chassis for better sound, but they are solving for this by releasing the all aluminum GMMK Pro. Overall, nothing even close in the category. Hot swap opens up an entire switch world for the consumer to explore With the GMMK. Quality is very high for an entry level board. Don’t hesitate if on the fence - it’s a great board.

Its a great-looking keyboard. There are some personal opinion and preference issues that make me NOT like it the GMMK1. 1 - Angle. Its too flat, and it has single-position legs to prop it up, but to me, its too steep and not as stable. Ive tried other mechanical keyboards that are FINE in their default position. 2 - The tiny red light for CAPS LOCK. 3 - Lack of foam between the PCB and plate. Techwares $45 board has foam theirs, and its pretty much the exact same PCB (same part #, different revision). (Techware uses the same flip-out feet) 4 - Software: It sucks. The interface is bad and takes a lot of work to set custom colors. No key reassignment abilities (Royal Klunge does). This is the worst aspect of this product. Id pay an extra $2-3 if that would fix their software development. SERIOUSLY! A personal gripe thats typical. The USB connector is at the very face on the back. So its connector sticks out and needs about 1.5 of clearance. Connect deeper into the body, not like people unplug their keyboard daily. Im also not a fan of floating keys, in general. But Ill deal with it. RK keyboards usually include a plastic snap-on bezel as an option. Overall, this KB loses value because of software and not great backlight (EVGA = excellent. But too bad they seem to fail a lot) The rest, is a personal preference.

The GMMK compact fit my acco cs reds perfectly and is very durable. It has USB-C and is sturdy. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a budget custom keyboard.

This is a great keyboard. I wanted to customize my own and this was perfect for that. You get a lot of keyboard for the money. Great price

We got this in February last year, and in a couple months the keyboard died to static electricity. We got it again thinking we just got a faulty board, but now its died again in the same way.

Got a full sized keyboard, very solid for starting off. Full sized doesnt have detachable cable. Does have software to change individual RGB behind keys. Would recommend.

Worked for what I needed, seems sturdy and solid, have only had it for a few weeks though, but so far so good. Decent value.

This keyboard is a very good value for the money and the features you get from it. From the hot swappable switches and custom key caps available, it ticked off all the boxes I required for a keyboard. Switches are quick and responsive without too much extra noise from them compared to some others Ive used. Body of the keyboard is high quality with the aluminum top used. I also like the removable USB-C cable that if something was to happen to it, could easily be replaced. My only complaint is the shipping process, I ordered one time and received the Silver/White keyboard when I had ordered the black and returned and re-ordered when I was told a replacement order could not be done. I then again for a second time received another Silver/White keyboard instead of black, and when a replacement was shipped for a third time, it was another Silver/White. I got tired of ordering and just settled for the silver/white as the black was in/out of stock at the time.

This board is 100% perfect for a beginner and even more for those with certain preferences. You need to like the floating style key design to implement this in more expensive builds as well as not mind clipping your 5 pin switches. I dont mind this as they are still compatible with the 5 pin boards after I clip them, and I also do not usually move my switches from a board once it is made. But for a beginner board, most use the floating design and it is seen on keyboards all the way up the money chain in custom kits. It is most likely what you are used to as well from mainstream brand keyboards. The big difference between this and a mainstream keeb is its body is 100% aluminum, under an inch thick with a huge weight to it, and has the switches accessible right on the top layer. Press in your switches and caps, do any lubing or mods you want and its done and a higher quality keyboard than anything you can buy premade from main brands. You can get almost the same level of quality buying a premade from these guys but it will not be lubed or have any mods available beyond its stock foam pads which are still good.
