Eight squared feet of parts to put together (for one unit)! Awesome. They all go together properly and there is the Mother of All Manuals to help you. It makes those from other manufacturers look like garbage. Slick, glossy, fine drawing in color...the rest should cower in shame. Take it from one who did get a finger into a tablesaw blade. There go the dreams of being a hand model. Do it right. Not just vastly more safely, but with control and precision. No more sticks, boards lifting up or 600 mph (.45 cal pistol speed) kickbacks trying to get you. You know the woodworking demons are always trying to get you. This tool, if used with some thought and patience, pretty much eliminates the worst problem in using this sort of equipment I particularly like the new drop down heel that pushes the workpiece along even if the conditions are too slick for the rubber friction pads. They move up and down so that the leapfrog way you use these on longer boards is easy and safe. These are very cleverly designed and all the components are well made. Because they are so modular the company offers updates for older ones. Believe it or not, I already had one of the older models and with the much better idea of using two I was ready to buy one when this became available. Must have been my magical powers.

These adjustable plastic push blocks are designed to push stock through your table saw (and routers- which I don’t have) during rip cuts. They are well regarded in the woodworking profession. You can rip very thin cuts on thin stock using these blocks, but your table saw must have a zero clearance insert. The blocks reduce the possibility of fingers getting too close to the blade and kick-back. You position the blocks on top of the stock and push. The blade goes through an adjustable tunnel under the push block keeping your hands away from the blade all while maintaining pressure against the rip fence to avoid kick-back. The blocks require a dry-run, with the saw off, to make sure there is clearance for the blade. The blocks grip very well, (eventually the gripping surface can get filled with sawdust and lose grip, but there is a procedure to clean them and return them to full grip) having a special high friction material on them. This kit includes two blocks. Two blocks are almost a necessity for ripping long stock. With two blocks, you push/hold using one block and, when you push too far, you remove the first one and place it behind the second for continuous motion (there are demo videos on the website and Youtube). It takes some practice. There are lots of accessory attachments included for additional support for different sized stock. I highly recommend these.

Micro Jig GRR-RIPPERs are the best push blocks money can buy. Yes, theyre more expensive than cheap push blocks but are your fingers worth a few extra bucks? Thats not a joke, table saws are one of the most (potentially) dangerous tools in woodworking, and personally, I want to have the safest workflow I can possibly have. I now have 3 GRR-RIPPERs and set two them up for different cuts I commonly make (so I dont have to keep adjusting them) and have the third that I can customize to make other cuts as needed. If youre a woodworker and havent tried GRR-RIPPERs yet, you owe it to yourself to give them a shot. Theres a reason so many successful woodworkers use them. They make using the table saw much safer.

I always used to think these were way overpriced for a bunch of pieces of plastic. Ill just build my own went through my head every time. After enough procrastination I used them for the first time and I was quickly impressed. Well; quickly, after an hour or so of assembly. Its the price you pay for so many options and the adjustability but there are a surprising number of pieces and none of them come attached. If I had gone into it knowing I would have set time aside and enjoyed the process except I was ready to make sawdust. Just be aware. I find that the easiest way to use these is to loosen everything, set the gripping surface on your work piece and then push everything into position and tighten. Trying to get it all set before getting it on the piece would be impossible. The rubber material gives the prefect amount of grip so little to no downward pressure is needed and I absolutely love having my fingers far away from the blade. I needed some smaller pieces of wood for a target stand the other day and had a long 3 piece I wanted to rip in half. Normally Id grab a puch stick and be really careful while really needing three hands but the grippers made it a breeze. Having both good downward pressure and pressure against the fence in BOTH HANDS is great. This pack comes with a bunch of other add-on pieces that really expend possibilities when I already thought they did everything. I dont do much large stock in need of the connector but I like the multiple included auto-drop heels and the 1/8 leg. I do cut some things smaller than the original let allows so the added flexibility is good. For the auto heels I hate purposely cutting into part of the product but they include a few so if the project really calls for it I again like that its been thought of. Now, I still think they are a little expensive, but if youre attached to your fingers theyre more than worth it and the make jobs much easier.

Im using the Micro Jig GRR-RIPPERs (for now) only on a Delta cabinet table saw. The only real concern I have with them is that you cant always use them with a blade guard (you can use them with a riving knife, if your saw will allow it). Ive owned my saw for more than 10 years, and Ive always used it with the stock blade guard, because, as someone said to me, if you havent had kickback, you will. Ive only experienced some small pieces ejected back at me over that time, but Im always super-careful when cutting. You can use a blade guard if your cut is wide enough to allow the GRR-RIPPERs to fit between your fence and the blade, but the main advantage to them is when youre making cuts that have the blade passing under the GRR-RIPPERs. Of course, if you are pushing down on the GRR-RIPPERs and holding them against your fence, your chances of kickback are pretty minimal. One task in which the GRR-RIPPERs excelled was in cutting very thin strips from a wide piece of hard maple (similar to what the company shows in its demo videos). I set the width between the fence and the blade to a quarter of an inch, then ripped the board over and over again. Each piece was exactly the same width. If I had done this the traditional way, I would have set up the first cut--say, 6 inches from fence to blade--and then would have had to move the fence a quarter inch for each cut, and Id probably see some variance in the cut widths. And, at the end, the width would have been too narrow to cut safely. You can, of course use the GRR-RIPPERs with wider stock and a blade guard installed (if the GRR-RIPPERs wont hit the blade guard); they work well for holding your stock firmly and keeping it against the fence. The assembly instructions are quite clear, and the devices are thoughtfully designed and constructed. The gravity heel thats included in this set has to be pretty loose to drop behind your stock, but I still think its a helpful addition. I may be overly concerned with using a blade guard, but the whole point of the GRR-RIPPERs is safety, right? One of these days, Im going to get rid of the Delta saw and get a SawStop--but Ill probably continue to use the GRR-RIPPERs even then.

Great, great product. As a new woodworker, I’m a bit tentative and anxious. Using these blocks makes me feel better about the whole thing. And they definitely give better control. I wish they were a little cheaper but since I can’t really put a value on my fingers, I can’t complain too much.
