I didnt know what to expect from this bag. This is my first hiking backpack and I love it! Its very slim but it fits a lot of stuff. I use this as my daily commuter bag. The side pockets expand nicely for my water bottle. The smaller pocket in the front i use for my keys and earbuds. Anything that I need quick, easy access to. The bigger pocket fits whatever I want. I eventually want to see if I can add a pair of shoes. Since I take public transpo to work, I walk a lot and want to wear my sneakers and put my work shoes in the bag. I dont think I could fit a pair of boots. I love the rain protector thats included but havent had to use it yet.

Nice backpack, second one I have bought. Loaned the 1st one to my son. Worked well for him on his day hikes in the Southwest US. So its now a permanent loan.

Osprey makes great packs that we often use for backpacking trips. We were looking for a good daypack for carrying essentials while hiking with our dog. This pack works great for my wife and she hardly notices that she is wearing it. The included rain cover is a nice addition also. She loves this pack so much that she wont let me use it. Very light weight.

I was looking for a day pack to bring a few things on hikes, especially my Nalgene bottle. I’m impressed with the size of this bag because it looks smaller but can hold more than what I need. The best part is that I can keep my 32oz Nalgene in the side pocket for quick access and for a longer hike, there’s another pocket on the other side so I could take 2 if needed! I also liked how it didn’t make my shirt ride up my back like plain old back packs have.

We use this as a diaper bag because we are always on the go-go-go with the kids and needed something lightweight that could carry all our stuff! We usually carry two water bottles, one for each kid, a change of clothes for each kid, some diapers, some wipes, and some snacks and this pack can easily manage all that PLUS room for more all while being extraordinarily lightweight and comfortable to wear around. One of the best things is the side pouches for the water bottles. When you bend over to pick up ...I dont know whatever one of a million things your kid has dropped that you need to pick up...the water bottles stay secure in their pockets but they are accessible enough for a *quick* grab when you need it.

I really wanted to love this pack. Its lightweight, fairly comfortable and I absolutely love the airspeed ventilation system on the back, which lived up to the hype. After a 12 mile hike in mild conditions, my shoulders/back felt completely dry. However, I had mixed feelings about the frame. It seemed a little much for such a small pack, but perhaps necessary for the awesome ventilation system. The bottom corners curve out a bit, so I tightened the straps to make it sit higher on my back to prevent the corners from rubbing against my hip bones. Im a pretty lanky individual (511 ~160 lbs), but the frame felt a bit narrow and seems like it would be ideal for a smaller individual. Theres a seam where thicker material connects to the mesh on the lower back. That in combination with the bottom corners where the frame sticks out caused major shirt pilling. Despite being fairly lightly packed, after just a single hike, the brand new shirt I was wearing showed substantial wear on the two spots on the back where the pack frame sticks out. This issue (pilling shirts) was one of the main reasons Ive been looking from my old pack which was made from cheaper materials. Unfortunately, it appears this pack may be worse than my last one in that regard.

This really should be a 5 rating but I chose 4 (maybe 4.9) because of one small design item. It needs another small zippered pouch on the front. Most backpacks that Ive had have three zippered compartments going from small to large. This has only two. I miss that small front one where I usually put my keys and phone. Its not a big item and I should have examined the picture more carefully. That said, the backpack is great. The straps, zippers, and material are first rate. This is the second Osprey Ive owned. My son claimed the first and after about five years he is still using it frequently.

My husband is able to run to the office comfortably wearing this bag. My only complaint when I use it is that if the main compartment isn’t relatively full, whatever is in the small top pocket (unless it’s really light) pulls the top down, making the bag appear kinda concave.
