I NEVER write reviews. BUT this carpet cleaner is a life saver. I struggle with back issues and the light weightness, in addition to the power, easy assemble for someone with pets is remarkable. Given me back some of my independence to takle what in the past was a nightmare job and costly. Powerful you can see dirt being removed, easy to change out tank. Great product.

I would like to give this cleaner five stars except for one small problem, and it might be partly my own fault. The first carpet I needed to clean was a 5x7 beige area rug. I mostly wanted to get out the embedded cat fur. I vacuumed the rug thoroughly and started on the corner to clean it. The corner of the rug immediately turned dark, streaky brown. At first, I thought it was just dark because it was wet, but as I continued on I noticed that section was the only part of the rug that was dark brown, which worried me. I decided to let it dry overnight and see if it was just overly wet, but the next day it was still brown. Luckily, scrubbing with a sponge, warm water and some gentle dish detergent got most of whatever the stain was out. I think it may be important to run the cleaner when you first get it on a test rug to get anything that might be in it out before starting on any rug you want to clean. On the plus side, once I got past that section the cleaner did a really good job cleaning the rug and best of all pulling out the embedded cat fur. I do recommend, but definitely do a test run before you use it anywhere.

I cannot get over how dirty the water was! Such a good cleaner. Only down size, small tank. Had to empty it 2 or 3 times per room.

I have never used a carpet cleaner like this before so I have no idea if it is better or worse than others. I bought this to clean the carpet in my apartment because I didn’t feel like vacuuming alone got it clean. I was right, this cleaner pulls a whole lot of nastiness out of carpet. The biggest surprise was how much hair my top-of-the-line vacuum misses. This cleaner easily gathers up the excess hair and fuzz and turns it into wads of gray chewed-up looking clots that resemble rat fur. Very disgusting, but helpful since most of it doesn’t get tangled in the inside of the cleaner. After using it several times, I found the best way to get an area clean was to spray it going forward and backward and then to run the cleaner over each area around 15 times for minimal dampness. I cleaned all the carpeted areas of my apartment with it twice and the water was still pretty cloudy. The solution reservoir doesn’t hold much—it’s enough to do half a mid-sized bedroom and then you are on to the next debacle—cleaning it. Cleaning the cleaner is by far the worst part. Debris gets caught up in the housing around the roller and while you can take it apart to clean it, you have to remove some screws and it is a pain. The dirty water reservoir is hard to empty. There is a handy little strainer that looks like a coffee k-cup that you can pop out and rinse off so that is handy. The downside is that you have to empty and refill the cleaner a lot unless you’re just using it for a small space or a rug. It came with a sample of pet odor neutralizing cleaning solution and that is what I purchased for continued use and I do not care for it. It smells vaguely like floor cleaner but mostly like pencil lead. It did neutralize the pet odor after two uses—I had an elderly cat who had a few accidents in the last days of her life. I doubt this would make much difference if there had been more urine or a stronger urine odor. The smell dissipated over 12 hours with the window open and fans on to dry the carpet completely. This mentions stairs—I could not use it on my standard-size carpeted stairs. It is bulky and can’t cover the whole stair going side to side, and there isn’t enough suction to dry them out if you try to go at them from the front. For the love of dog, do NOT add the solution to the reservoir before the water. The instructions explicitly say to add it last and there is a reason for that. Overall, I would say the product works okay but if I had it to do over again I would have just had professionals come and clean the carpets for me. I can’t wait to move somewhere with no carpet!

I used the Hoover PowerDash on multiple light-colored 8X10 area rugs around my home and was really impressed with how much deep-set dirt & soil this compact cleaner pulled up. We have cats, and we also have the area rugs in high foot traffic areas of our home. After about 2 1/2 years of just using a regular vacuum on our rugs, I noticed the gray & cream colors were looking dingy. There were also a few faint stains on our family room rug from normal living wear & tear. I ordered this PowerDash based on positive reviews, and I am really glad I did. For the liquid formula I poured into the cleaner, I used the Bissel Pro Max Clean & Protect liquid formula for Upright Carpet Cleaners, and poured it in this Hoover Power Dash Upright Pet Carpet Cleaner with warm water, following the instructions that come with the Hoover Power Dash Cleaner. After one cleaning, my rugs look completely revived. My husband and I were shocked at how much dirt was in the rugs that we did not even realize. The Cleaner also lifted the faded stains, some that had been set for a good 2 years. I forgot how bright my rugs originally were! The PowerDash cleaner is lightweight and easy to assemble & to use. I also found it relatively easy to clean out the dirty water container. It just requires you to dump the dirty water and then you may have to pull out a few clumps of carpet fiber that the cleaner lifts because of the strong suction. A few tips: definitely use warm water, and go slowly when pushing & pulling the Cleaner during use. The clean water/formula tank is small, so I had to fill it twice to clean the full surface of one 8X10 area rug. The process of filling the water/formula tank is really easy so it is not a big deal, but I would recommend buying an extra bottle of the liquid cleaner to have on hand for cleaning if you plan to clean larger surface areas. All but one of our rugs were brand new 2 1/2 years ago when we moved into our home. The new thicker rugs all washed up really well and felt soft & fresh after the cleaning. The only advice I would give is to be careful with older or more delicate rugs. The suction of the carpet cleaner is strong, so it does suck up carpet fibers. We have one hall rug that is a little older/thinner, and the carpet fibers on that rug were a little delicate/brittle for the suction of the PowerDash. The rug is clean after use, but you can almost see where some of the fibers on this older rug were thinned out from the cleaning. But on all of our newer, thicker rugs, the cleaner sucked up the dirt & soil beautifully and left the rugs feeling really soft and clean. Overall, super pleased with this purchase. I am impressed with how powerful this cleaner is for something so lightweight and relatively inexpensive compared with other cleaners.

I’ve had this product for over a year now, and let me tell you.. I ABUSED it (not literally) I mean I was using it everyday, as I have 2 dogs who I was still training on pottying. Of course, every now and then I’d deep clean it by taking apart the bottom, really cleaning the bristles, but man I’m really happy with how it’s still going. I’ve used it alot; I never tried it on bright “hard to get out” stain types although I think it would work maybe? it doesn’t work too well with old stains, so I advise using it as soon as you can after a mess! *had to refill liquid for every 20-25 sq ft area, best for small area clean ups* UPDATE 3/28/23: • so I bought a new one since the last one stopped working (smoke/smell everytime I turned it on) and this new one just broke the same way.. it’s only been maybe a few months, maybe 2 months. So I’m pretty upset I gotta buy yet another? After taking it apart, I found the motor was rusted. Apparently this is common in these cleaners because of water splashing back as you clean. So question is, how do I stop water from getting in? I dry my cleaner after each use, it sits on a dry towel surface each time. So I’m assuming it’s getting in while I use it. There’s a covering on the bottom that’s suppose to prevent that but it seems like it’s failing at doing so.

With carpet that is only 1 year old, I was AMAZED at the amount of dirt this sucker pulled out. It leaves my carpet damp (not sopping wet) and extremely clean. The dirty water tank proves its power every time I use this. Such a great purchase, especially if you have pets!

Honestly, this thing is fantastic. For reference, I have two huskies, four cats and a fiancé. They all have simultaneous dirty feet at least a couple of times a week from spending time outside. My crazy nalgas fell in love with this white rug and just had to have it against my better judgment. Sure enough, the dinge was taking over my pristine rug while I cried tears of sourness as my sanity slipped away. Hand-scrubbing did help but it did nothing to restore my once snow-white rug. So, I caught this machine on sale and figured what-the-hey Ill try this out and if I hate it, back it will go. The photo I took was after one pass. Suffice it to say, I was ecstatic. If you are loca like me and have light-colored rugs/carpets with grime gremlins lurking in your home.. buy this machine, seriously. Its amazeballz. Oh and in case you were wondering, I was using OxyClean Large Area carpet cleaner in the machine.

I bought this Hoover PowerDash Pet machine and was impressed. Firstly, I thought that my delivery would have taken a week, I got it within two days. Thanks Amazon. It is simple to assemble. It comes with a 6 ounce bottle of Hoover deep clean neutralizer. The key to using this is SLOW movement. It cleaned and sucked up the dirt. My rug was not dripping wet. I just finished cleaning about 15 minutes ago and it is nearly dry. The proof of all the dirt was in the dirty water container. I have a Bissell Little Green Clean Machine. It does well for spot treating, but at one point I was using it to clean the whole rug. Let’s just say my back wasn’t to happy about that. The first picture shows how dirty the carpet is. I have a dog and a cat. The second picture shows how clean it became. After I was finished cleaning, I took off the removable nozzle and rinsed it clean. I flipped up the machine, unscrewed the bottom and cleaned the brush head and surrounding area. There was soo much fur, but it was a breeze to clean. For the price, I paid $112 in total. I heard a lot of things about Hoover and wanted to try it out. I’m very happy with my purchase.
