HTC HC M100 Dot View Flip Case for One M8 - Orange

Absolutely love it

This is a sharp looking case that does its job well. Has a great feel in the hand(though not as good as the phone without a case does). The DotView feature gets oohs and ahs all the time, and has even convinced one person to buy the HTC One M8 just to get it. This is ideal for people with larger hands or smaller handed people who dont mind or prefer using their phone two-handed.

This case has a lot of pros, and only one con that Ive run into. The idea of being able to see the time, weather, message and mail notifications while still having the entire phone protected is great. I work in an automotive shop, and its very convenient. Ive had more compliments than I can remember on it. People asking me how it works, and if they can see it. I love how it activates my phone when I open the cover, and turns it off when I close it without me having to hit any buttons. So once Im done using it, I just flip the cover closed and slide it back into my pocket. The only con Ive come across is that it doesnt open all the way. Meaning, you cant fold the front flat onto the back, which sometimes makes it difficult to do tasks like texting. But it works very well to prop your phone up for video viewing. Overall, I really like this case, and the fact that its only for the HTC One (M8) gives it a feeling of exclusivity.

The DOT view is cool....closed the case is excellent, but open? Meh! This seems like no big deal, but it does hinder the phone usage making using it more difficult. Ive nearly bricked my phone multiple times because of it inputting passwords when I wasnt intending to do so. See pictures for how it opens (or lack there of). Wish the makers could fix this one tiny flaw.

Keeping the review short, Pro: The design is nice and unique, the dot matrix light up display is very cute and cool. Cons: The cover (at least on the item that I got) doesnt fold back properly, leaving the phone propped up as though on a large kickstand in my hand. The hinge is too tight and the cover doesnt lay flat against the curved back. The only solution has been to hold the cover tighter but this causes misclicks along the side of the screen. Just as bad, the cover doesnt close down on the front all the way, after having been open for a while the very stiff hinge prevents it from laying perfectly flat on the glass. This prevents the tap functions of the dot matrix screen from behaving perfectly as they should. Long story short: Its a good looking, good feeling cover with a major design flaw in the hinge. At least in the model I got the hinge prevented this unique case from being excellent like it should be.

While the design concept is innovative, the product ultimately is inconvenient to use, especially when walking and texting. I enjoy the color, and the display design piques interest. However, the uniqueness of the design does not compensate for having to hold the cover back while using the keypad.
