HTC Vive Base Station

For the amount of money the whole system costs, its crazy flaky and buggy. Ive had the thing for about a week and out of the 10 times I went to use it 3 times did it start up with not having to find the headset or to find out the battery died for the controllers or the head set couldnt find them. At least the controllers have a charge port.. but Why do the batteries die when not in use? Ive had to charge the controllers more often than I actually used the thing because the few times I went to use it, the batteries where dead. Then after they were charged. I had to waste another 20 minutes trying to pair them. For a system over $1,000 it needs to be on right away, all the time consistently. It needs to be working even when its off to be ready at a moments notice. If this thing was one of my employees, I would have fired them.

Super cool thing I bought to jam the signal from my tv remote to my tv! My tv uses an infrared remote signal and this thing just screws it all up! Perfect for pranking my dad. Its a pretty solid reliable square box. Works great. 10/10 would buy again. Also, for some reason my VR vive trackers dont work without this thing. Not sure why... definitely need to buy another one for 360 tracking.

Theres no problem Ive had in particular with the base stations, but I did have to order this replacement because mine broke. I didnt have the tripods yet and so my station was sitting on other high up places like a bookshelf when it fell off. Just from falling about 6~ feet and hitting carpet was enough to break one of these.

I bought 2 of these base stations and they worked fine for about a month and a few weeks and then one stopped working all together with the blinking red light, which means it is unusable and needs to be replaced, lucky for me I contacted Vive and the base station was still in warranty so I can get a replacement for free. The other one is still fine and works properly so I’ve just been using one until I get my replacement.

Yes, theyre not cheap but it works. My old base station had a dying rotor and would signal a red flashing light when updated to the latest firmware. No wonder tracking was so bad! Hopefully this will last since I unplug them after a VR session.
