HTC Vive Base Station

Literally had them for two months and they don’t work now...

So, as for what I received, it works great, as advertised. An excellent version 2 replacement. The conditions that led me to ordering this were kind of silly, though. One of my base stations was no longer tracking correctly, and debugging the hardware, fiddling with the mounts and angles, and removing other light sources from the room did nothing to help. So I sent it to the HTC repair center, but now I dont know when to expect it back, so ended up just ordering another one from here to keep things moving. Kind of annoyed by that, but whatever. Imagine my surprise when hooking up the replacement, it was having the same tracking issues. I eventually figured out that there was an environmental factor I hadnt been considering: some framed pictures were put on the wall near the play area recently, and their reflective plexiglass was seriously messing with the invisible lasers that the base stations use. After they were removed from the area, everything worked fine. If youre having tracking issues, consider looking for potentially reflective surfaces rather than jumping to the wrong conclusion like I did, and that includes anything, not just mirrors.

Theres no problem Ive had in particular with the base stations, but I did have to order this replacement because mine broke. I didnt have the tripods yet and so my station was sitting on other high up places like a bookshelf when it fell off. Just from falling about 6~ feet and hitting carpet was enough to break one of these.

i do not know how but somehow it can track even when my vive trackers are behind the base station too.

Base station is complete. Belts are shown (in ALL pictures/presentations) as having trackers included. They are not included. It is better to buy the straps separate and not as part of this package. You will save a lot of money.

This product is great with the 2.0 vive trackers and is definitely the better option to have if you are just getting into vull body vr as it is cheaper than the 2.0 base station. One thing I would like to warn you about is to never under any circumstances get a used base station. I made that mistake before and ended up getting a $114 paperweight, there is likely something gonna be wrong with the used base station such as a faulty motor, scratches, bad wire, or at worst a broken laser diode. Always buy these things new.

For the amount of money the whole system costs, its crazy flaky and buggy. Ive had the thing for about a week and out of the 10 times I went to use it 3 times did it start up with not having to find the headset or to find out the battery died for the controllers or the head set couldnt find them. At least the controllers have a charge port.. but Why do the batteries die when not in use? Ive had to charge the controllers more often than I actually used the thing because the few times I went to use it, the batteries where dead. Then after they were charged. I had to waste another 20 minutes trying to pair them. For a system over $1,000 it needs to be on right away, all the time consistently. It needs to be working even when its off to be ready at a moments notice. If this thing was one of my employees, I would have fired them.

Product connected quickly and doesnt lose tracking.

I bought this as a replacement, because the vive support team kept closing my ticket for replacing the bricked base station. Never got a label for repair or anything like they stated, just closed my ticket. I had enough of waiting a year for the label so I bought a new station. Lone behold, this station barely got any use out of it. Plugging it in shows no LED, not even the red light. Im just sick of buying expensive stations for them to break themselves in a short amount of time and not being able to get help from the support team.
