K-Edge Gravity Cap Garmin Mount (Black)

I prefer this mounting system for my commuter bike. Since I am in more of an upright position this makes it much easier for seeing speed and other data. This mounting position also frees up my handlebars for lights, bells and other commuting niceties.

Inner mounting tabs broke after like 2 weeks of us. Ive had mostly good luck with K-Edge stuff so ill just chalk it up to bad luck.

Mount is loose on Garmin 530 computer. Has fallen off a few times. Glad I have the silicone case. It looks nice an minimalistic, but I would not recommend.

My feelings are mixed. I liked this Garmin mount until I had a crash and the plastic insert that holds the Garmin broke off. Now I can not find a replacement insert, so I have a useless 25 stem cap. Id save your money and look elsewhere, honestly. If K-edge sold replacement inserts, Id rate this item much higher, but they do not appear to offer replacements in case of breakage.

This piece is well made and the only reason I give it a 4 is that it is impossible to adjust it and to get your Garmin facing straight. I eventually gave up trying to get it straight and drilled an allen sized hole in the Garmin shoe so I can adjust the angle after the two fixing screws are attached. There must be some reason why the factory does not do this - perhaps it weakens the shoe. Anyway, that made the adjustment very simple.

The mount is easy to install with minor adjustment to align. It only takes a few minutes to setup. My only issue was the location is now rearward more than I thought. Depending on your bike setup and riding style this may or may not be an issue. I’ve been riding with Garmin devices for many years and I’m just used to the more forward over the handlebar location. Fit and finish is nice, I may just change to the K-Edge mount that puts it over the handlebar instead of the top cap.
